기아차는 2012 파리모터쇼에서 더 날렵하고 스포티한 스타일의 신형 MPV ‘RP(프로젝트명)’를 세계 최초로 공개했다.

카렌스 후속이 될 신형 MPV ‘RP’의 외관 디자인은 역동적인 전면부 디자인에 패밀리룩 라디에이터 그릴을 장착해 강렬한 인상과 앞바퀴 중심에서 시작하는 A필러의 과감한 라인과 측면 프로파일은 역동성을 강조해 스포티한 느낌을 주며, ‘LED 주간 주행등(DRL)’과 ‘LED 리어 콤비네이션 램프’를 적용해 감각적인 느낌을 더했다.

신형 MPV ‘RP’의 실내 디자인은 수평적 구도로 넓고 안정적인 조형미를 강조하며 센터페시아를 포함한 일체형 가니쉬 구성과 유럽 감성을 반영한 디테일의 조화로 실용성과 고품질이 조화된 감성을 완성했다.

특히, 신형 MPV ‘RP’는 이전 모델에 비해 휠베이스가 50mm 길어져 더욱 넓은 실내공간을 확보했으며, 내부 곳곳에는 다양한 수납공간이 마련돼 있는 것은 물론, 다양한 시트 배치를 통해 내부공간 활용도를 극대화했다.

신형 MPV ‘RP’는 ▲최고출력 115마력, 최대토크 260Nm(약 26.5kg·m) 의 1.7리터 U2 VGT 디젤(저마력) 엔진과 ▲최고출력 136마력, 최대토크 330Nm(약 33.7kg·m)의 1.7리터 U2 VGT 디젤(고마력) 엔진 등 2종의 디젤 엔진 라인업과

▲최고출력 135마력, 최대토크 165Nm(약 16.8kg·m)의 1.6리터 감마 GDI 엔진과 ▲최고출력 177마력, 최대토크 211Nm(약 21.5kg·m)의 2.0리터 누우 GDI 엔진 등 2종의 가솔린 엔진 라인업을 갖췄다.

또한 기아차는 신형 MPV ‘RP’에 ▲차선이탈 경보 시스템(LDWS), ▲전자식 파킹 브레이크(EPB), ▲3가지 조향 모드 선택이 가능한 플렉스 스티어, ▲주차 조향 보조 시스템(SPAS), ▲슈퍼비전 클러스터, ▲1열 통풍 및 열선시트, ▲2열 열선시트, ▲2열 도어커튼 등 다양한 안전 및 편의사양을 대거 적용했다.

이번 파리모터쇼에서 공개된 신형 MPV ‘RP’는 내년부터 글로벌 시장에 순차적으로 출시될 예정이며, 시장 별 각종 세부사양 등은 정해지지 않았다.

다만 기아차는 시장 특성을 고려해 국내 출시 모델에는 1.7리터 디젤 엔진과 2.0리터 LPI 엔진을 적용할 예정이라고 밝혔다.

Following the unveiling of Lexus’ award-winning hybrid 2+2 sports coupe concept, the LF-LC at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show and its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show, a new, mid-sized coupe concept, the LF-CC makes its World Premiere at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
 
The more compact, rear-wheel drive, full hybrid LF-CC already integrates various design cues from the LF-LC; a first illustration of how concept cars are truly influencing future Lexus models and, in this instance, future D-Segment derivatives.
 
Announcing the launch of a premium mid-sized coupe in the more accessible D-segment in the near future, the LF-CC reinforces Lexus’ commitment to create more engaging, inspirational vehicles through attractive design, a superior driving experience and advanced technologies.
 
EXTERIOR DESIGN
The LF-CC showcases the latest evolution of the company’s unique L-finesse design language, with the boldest yet interpretation of the signature Lexus ‘spindle’ grille. Framed by the bonnet lip, deep lower spoiler and powerfully projecting front fender tips, the grille mesh is encased in a deep, metal-finish surround and takes on a pronounced, 3D form.
 
A unique, 3 LED-projector headlamp design is housed in the narrow gap between the lower and upper fender surfaces, without a conventional, one-piece cover. Independent Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are fully integrated into the upper bumper surface to complete this unique new design.
 
The broad lower fenders are aerodynamically sculpted to manage the flow of air to the engine bay and front brakes, whilst reinforcing the powerful, dynamic road presence of the new Lexus signature frontal design. 
 
In profile, the powerful convex curve of the bonnet flows seamlessly through a steeply raked windscreen into a roofline which deliberately peaks towards the rear of the cabin to emphasise the traction available from the vehicle’s rear-wheel drive powertrain.
 
The bodywork is stretched tight between the front and rear fenders, and the rear fender is less pronounced than that of the front, reinforcing the concentration of vehicle weight over the driven wheels for maximum traction. 
 
Further developing a design form initiated on the LF-LC concept and the high-performance LFA, the sharply sculpted form of an airflow regulating fin flows from underneath the side of the car and upwards through the rear wheel arch. This aerodynamic detail is designed to increase downforce over the driven wheels, further improving traction.
 
The airflow regulating fin merges with the falling roofline in a pronounced rear spoiler integrated within the boot lid, seamlessly fusing design and aerodynamic elements to give the vehicle its distinctive, coupe proportions.
 
To the rear, the full width bumper flows into the rear wheel arches to emphasise the LF-CC’s broad, powerful stance. Lexus-characteristic L-shaped combination lamps feature a layered, strongly three-dimensional design, and the lower, concave bumper section incorporates a full width spoiler to further enhance rear-wheel drive traction. The rear stop lamp is nicely integrated into the shark antenna.
 
The LF-CC is finished in a new, ‘Fluid Titanium’ exterior colour, a metallic finish with exceptionally high brilliance which combines sharp, bright highlighting with dark shaded surfaces to reinforce the powerful forms of the bodywork’s sculpted surfaces.
 
INTERIOR DESIGN
The LF-CC’s interior hints at the progressive luxury of a future Lexus model cabin layout, and represents a further development of the company’s HMI (Human Machine Interface) design philosophy.

The dashboard is divided into two distinct zones: an upper, Display Zone, with a multi-display screen located at an ideal distance for at-a-glance viewing, and a lower, Operation Zone, which allows access to the uniquely designed shift lever and an innovative touch tracer display for remote system control.
 
This clear division of zones creates a unique fusion of an airy, spacious cabin and a sporting cockpit which places the emphasis on a snug, highly focused driving environment. All functional driving components are consolidated in the driver’s seat surroundings, combining outstanding ergonomics with advanced HMI technologies.
 
The driver benefits from a low, highly focused driving position with a sporting, wide grip steering wheel, optimum pedal placement and high-visibility instrument dials. The touch tracer display for remote system control is located directly behind the shift lever for maximum comfort and ease of operation. 
 
Coordinating with the ‘Fluid Titanium’ exterior colour, the seats, door panels and instrument binnacle hood are trimmed in a warm, elegant amber leather finish. The extensive use of metallic finishes and soft touch materials throughout reinforces the premium quality of the environment. The contrast between the exterior and interior colour schemes gives the car an elegant yet simultaneously sporting image.

ALL-NEW 2.5 LITRE FULL HYBRID POWERTRAIN
Representing a new Lexus powertrain for future production, the LF-CC is equipped with an all-new, highly efficient, 2.5 litre full hybrid powertrain delivering a combination of the engaging performance appropriate to a sporting, D-segment coupe and low CO2 emissions, targeted below 100 g/km. This powertrain will achieve class-leading energy efficiency, with more than 2 hp produced per gram of CO2
 
This Lexus Hybrid Drive powertrain features an all-new, ultra-smooth running, 2.5 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine mated to a compact, high-output, water-cooled permanent magnet electric motor. 

In addition to the petrol engine and electric motor, the LF-CC hybrid drive system further comprises a generator, a high-performance battery, a power split device which, via planetary reduction gears, combines and re-allocates power from the engine, electric motor and generator according to operational requirements, and a compact power control unit to govern the high speed interaction of the system components.
 
Adapted specifically for the hybrid powertrain, the all-new 2.5 litre, DOHC, 4-cylinder petrol engine benefits from several technical improvements. It adopts the Atkinson cycle and D-4S direct injection technology to optimise both the power and fuel-efficiency benefits of Lexus Hybrid Drive.

Lexus will introduce this new hybrid powertrain into its model range in the near future.

Bugatti presents most powerful roadster ever only at Volkswagen Group Night

Molsheim/Paris, September 26, 2012 – Bugatti presents a special edition Bugatti Veyron 16.4

Grand Sport Vitesse in a unique Bianco and New Light Blue colour scheme at Volkswagen

Group Night only. The colour combination is based on the famous Type 37A, which was built

in 1928, won a multitude of Grand Prix races in its time and is now owned by Jay Leno.

Dynamics in figures. The new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse boasts a remarkable

maximum torque of 1,500 Nm (at 3,000–5,000 rpm) from the 7.9-liter capacity of its W16 engine.

The maximum output (1,200 hp) is reached at 6,400 rpm. These figures allow the car to reach

100 km/h (62 mph) from standing in unbelievable 2.6 seconds. The top speed of 410 km/h (255

mph) makes the four-wheel drive Vitesse (like all Veyrons) the fastest production roadster ever. The

maximum speed is reached on closed tracks with special safety precautions. In “normal” handling

mode, the Vitesse is electronically limited to 375 km/h (233 mph).

“After we had successfully developed the Super Sport out of the Veyron, we of course considered to

do the same with the Grand Sport,” says Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber. The new President of Bugatti

Automobiles S.A.S. continues: “The result is a unique vehicle onto which we managed to transfer

the dynamic alterations from the Super Sport. They convey with the roof off and on a breath-taking

driving experience.”

Optimized drive system. The 199 hp increase over the Grand Sport has been mainly achieved by

using four larger turbochargers with new intercoolers. Furthermore, Bugatti has extensively

reinforced all drivetrain components in order to safely transfer the immense forces at all times. The

gearing of the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) in particular has been adapted to the new

requirements. In this context, as on the Super Sport, Bugatti has also modified the air ducting in the

area of the drivetrain. As a consequence of the larger turbochargers and the overall reduced back

pressure, it was even possible to reduce the fuel consumption slightly despite the increased output.

The fuel system, with a four-pump tank, has been taken from the Super Sport.

Chassis. In order to put the unrivalled power onto the road absolutely safely and masterfully, the

engineers have reconfigured the chassis of the Vitesse. Thanks to the quick-responding dampers that

have been adapted from motor racing, the control of the vehicle has been further improved and

perfectly balanced. Body roll and pitching during hard acceleration and braking are now virtually

imperceptible. Optimized wheel-load fluctuations have further reduced understeer and allow a

maximum level of active safety. In addition to the incomparable lateral acceleration of up to 1.4 g,


Bugatti the precise interaction of the tires (on all-new, lighter 20-inch “Vitesse”-type alloy wheels), together

with the intelligent all-wheel-drive system, ensures extremely good handling. The chassis, all-wheeldrive

system and the revised ESP form a dynamic alliance: since the reconfigured ESP kicks in

slightly later, for example when you accelerate out of corners, the Vitesse also provides a more

dynamic performance in these situations. It goes without saying that Bugatti has adapted the brakecooling

system to account for the even higher engine output. The brakes, which are unparalleled in

terms of stability and performance, now have additional and larger air intakes.

In general, it can be said that the Vitesse is even sportier than the 1,001 hp Grand Sport, but at the

same time it has not been turned into a full-blown racing car. It therefore remains easy to master for

the driver. In this context, it is simply astounding that Bugatti managed to increase comfort in the

chassis area by reducing the dynamic natural frequency.


Body. Bugatti has developed a new roof spoiler for the Vitesse that significantly reduces wind noise

and buffeting in the interior. Furthermore, there will be a new windbreak for the roadster that can

be stored away compactly in the luggage compartment when not in use. Both details will also be

available for the Grand Sport. Together, they allow extremely relaxed, open-top driving even at

speeds of around 200 km/h (124 mph).

Numerous aerodynamic measures at the front and rear that appeared on the Super Sport have been

adapted for the Vitesse. The front end is therefore characterized by larger air intakes; the two central

air intakes to the left and right of the Bugatti radiator grille are divided horizontally by a bar. The

bottom air vent stretches sideways into the wheel housing and gives this exceptional sports car an

extremely masterful appearance. Immediately below this air intake, you will see a new, visually

refined front spoiler that has been designed in a similar way to the splitters used in motor racing.

The improved xenon headlights from the Super Sport, which are now framed in black, are also new.

The rear end, which is also derived from the Super Sport, is characterized by a double diffusor and a

centrally positioned twin tailpipe. A new Park Distance Control system (PDC) watches over the

front and the rear.

The two air scoops on the left and right of the engine cover (redesigned for the Vitesse) are a

characteristic of the Grand Sport and thus also of the Vitesse. These air scoops fulfil two tasks on the

roadster. On the one hand, they pull in air for the engine, and on the other, they are an elegantly

integrated part of the anti-roll protection system. As on the Super Sport, a full-carbon-fibre

monocoque, which allows an extremely high torsional rigidity combined with maximum passive

safety, is also used on the Vitesse. The outer skin is also made completely from carbon fibre and,

consequently, the new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse is available in clear-coated exposed

carbon fibre.


Interior. Carbon fibre is (along with stainless metals such as aluminium and magnesium) also the

dominant material in the interior of the Vitesse. Numerous interior parts are now made from

carbon fibre in the 1,200 hp roadster. This includes the centre console extension, a cover with EB

logo in the rear-bulkhead leather trim (between the seat backrests) and the belt outlet covers on the

seats. The décor on the centre console, the door inserts and the adjoining trim on the instrument

panel are also made from carbon fibre. Contrasting stitching is also featured on the leather armrest

between the seats, which comes without the typical quilting. Also new: knee pads in the centre

tunnel area, an additional 12 V socket (in the glove compartment), the restraint systems, the

illuminated start and parking lock button (same as Super Sport), an instrument cluster with shift-up

information and – as a matter of honor – the power gauge that now goes up to 1,200 hp.


Bugatti Following the success of the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, Bugatti did not have to wait long before it

received the first inquiries about an open-top version of the Grand Sport that could also deliver

882 kW (1,200 hp).

Configuration of the show vehicle. Each one of the 300 Veyrons and 40 Grand Sport built so far

are unique. This also applies to the special edition Vitesse model Bugatti is exhibiting at The Quail.

This version of the new roadster orientates itself at a Type 37A, which was built in 1928, won a

multitude of Grand Prix races in its time and is now owned by the famous TV presenter Jay Leno.

The upper area of the body is finished in “Bianco” including the roof area and the air scoops. The

lower body panels (side skirting, front spoiler, radiator grille frame and rear apron with diffusor), the

inner surfaces of the wheel rims and the underside of the automatically extending rear spoiler are in

“New Light Blue.” The interior is largely out of a noble Cognac leather building a contrast to the

extrovert exterior colours. The car was instantly sold for 2.5 million dollar, whereas the base price of

the Vitesse is at 1.69 million Euros (without tax and transportation).
