포르쉐 AG (Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG)가 지난 4일 자사 최초의 순수 전기 스포츠카 타이칸 (Taycan)을 3개 대륙에서 동시에 세계 최초로 공개했다.
이 날 베를린에서 열린 월드 프리미어 행사에 참석한 포르쉐 AG 이사회 회장 올리버 블루메는 “타이칸은 70년 이상 전 세계를 매료시켜온 포르쉐 브랜드의 성공적인 유산을 미래와 연결시키는 매우 중요한 제품”라며, “오늘은 포르쉐가 새로운 시대의 시작을 알리는 역사적인 날이다”라고 강조했다.
4도어 스포츠 세단 타이칸은 전형적인 포르쉐 성능은 물론, 연결성과 일상적 사용성을 모두 갖췄다. 특히, 고도화된 생산 방식과 타이칸이 가진 특징은 지속 가능성 및 디지털화 분야에서도 새로운 기준을 제시한다. 포르쉐 AG 이사회 멤버이자 R&D(연구개발) 총괄 마이클 슈타이너는 “타이칸은 전동화 시대를 앞두고 ‘진정한 포르쉐’를 약속했던 포르쉐가 기술력과 주행 성능은 물론, 전 세계 팬들의 열정까지 불러일으키는 매혹적인 스포츠카로 구현해 낸 모델”이라고 강조했다.
타이칸 라인업 중 가장 처음으로 선보이는 타이칸 터보 S와 타이칸 터보는 최첨단의 포르쉐 E-퍼포먼스(Porsche E-Performance)를 반영하고 있으며, 포르쉐 현 제품 포트폴리오 중 가장 강력한 양산 모델이다. 올해에는 타이칸 베이스 모델도 공개를 앞두고 있으며, 첫 번째 파생 모델 타이칸 크로스 투리스모 (Taycan Cross Turismo)는 내년 말에 라인업에 추가될 예정이다. 포르쉐는 2022년까지 60억 유로 이상을 전동화에 투자할 계획이다.
성능과 효율성

포르쉐 디자인 DNA를 반영한 순수한 외관 디자인
포르쉐 디자인 DNA를 반영한 깔끔하고 순수한 디자인의 타이칸은 새로운 시대의 시작을 알린다. 전면은 윤곽이 뚜렷한 윙과 함께 더욱 넓고 평평해 보이고, 실루엣은 후면 방향으로 경사진 스포티 루프 라인으로 더욱 강조된다. 측면 디자인 역시 미려하며, 선이 매끈한 실내, 짧아진 리어 C-필러, 명확한 숄더 라인과 함께 날렵하게 강조된 후면 디자인은 전형적인 포르쉐 디자인을 드러낸다. 후면에 길게 이어지는 라이트 바의 글래스 디자인 포르쉐 레터링과 같은 혁신 요소도 있다. 0.22 Cd 값의 탁월한 에어로 다이내믹은 낮은 에너지 소비량과 장거리 주행에 기여한다.
넓은 디스플레이 스크린 밴드가 탑재된 독특한 인테리어 디자인
명료한 구조와 완전히 새로운 아키텍처로 새로워진 콕핏 역시 새로운 시대의 시작을 강조한다. 특히, 대시보드의 가장 높은 지점에 위치한 독립된 곡선형 계기판은 운전자를 향해 집중되어 있으며, 중앙의 10.9인치 인포테인먼트 디스플레이와 옵션 사양의 조수석 디스플레이는 블랙 패널 룩의 통합형 글래스 밴드와 결합되어 있다. 모든 사용자 인터페이스도 타이칸에 맞춰 완전히 새롭게 디자인되었다. 스위치 및 버튼처럼 클래식한 하드웨어 컨트롤의 수가 전반적으로 크게 줄어든 반면, “헤이 포르쉐(Hey Porsche)”라고 부르면 작동하는 터치 및 음성 제어 등 더욱 지능적이고 직관적인 기능이 탑재된다.
포르쉐는 타이칸을 통해 처음으로 가죽을 전혀 사용하지 않은 인테리어를 선보인다. 혁신적인 재활용 재료로 만든 인테리어는 전기 스포츠카의 지속 가능 콘셉트를 강조한다. “풋 개러지 (뒷좌석 발밑 공간)”는 전형적인 스포츠카의 낮은 전고를 유지하면서도 편안한 뒷좌석을 제공한다. 두 개의 트렁크를 사용할 수 있으며, 앞 트렁크 용량은 81리터, 리어는 366리터다.
혁신적인 드라이브 모터와 2단 변속기
타이칸 터보 S와 타이칸 터보의 프런트 및 리어 액슬에는 각각 1개의 효율적인 전기 모터(electric machines)가 장착되어 사륜 구동 시스템을 만든다. 주행 거리 및 연속적인 출력 모두 PSM (permanently excited synchronous machines)의 높은 효율성으로부터 얻을 수 있는 이점이다. 전기 모터, 변속기, 펄스 컨트롤 인버터는 각각 콤팩트한 드라이브 모듈과 결합되며, 현행 시판 모델 중 가장 높은 출력 밀도 (패키지 공간 대비)를 가졌다. 전기 모터의 특별한 특징 중 하나는 “헤어핀(hairpin)” 와인딩이라 불리는 스테이터 코일로, 모터의 크기는 유지하면서 더 많은 구리를 스테이터에 결합시켜 출력과 토크를 증가시킨다. 리어 액슬의 2단 변속기 역시 혁신 요소이며, 1단 기어는 정지상태에서 출발할 때 가속력을 전달하고, 2단 기어는 고속에서도 높은 효율과 출력을 보장한다.
중앙 네트워크화된 섀시 시스템
포르쉐는 타이칸 섀시에 중앙 네트워크화된 컨트롤 시스템을 사용한다. 통합형 포르쉐 4D 섀시 컨트롤은 모든 섀시 시스템을 실시간으로 분석하고 동기화한다. 혁신적인 섀시 시스템은 PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) 전자식 댐퍼 컨트롤을 포함한 3 챔버 기술의 어댑티브 에어 서스펜션뿐 아니라, 포르쉐 토크 벡터링 플러스(Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, PTV Plus)를 포함한 포르쉐 다이내믹 섀시 컨트롤 스포츠(Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport, PDCC Sport) 전자 기계식 롤 스태빌라이제이션 시스템을 모두 포함한다. 2개의 전기 모터와 에너지 회수 시스템을 갖춘 사륜 구동 제어 방식은 독특하다. 타이칸은 최대 265kW까지 가능한 에너지 회수 시스템 덕분에, 일상 생활 속 제동의 약 90퍼센트를 실제 브레이크 작동 없이 회생 제동만으로 가능하다.

Acura returns to Monterey Car Week, one of the world's top gatherings of automotive and motorsports enthusiasts, to debut the Type S Concept. Following its world premiere at a private Acura reception Thursday, August 15, the Acura Type S Concept will publicly debut on Friday, August 16 at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering. It will then be showcased at the historic Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Concept Lawn on Sunday, August 18.
Representing a fundamental step toward fulfilling Acura's return to Precision Crafted Performance, which started with the debut of the second-generation NSX, the Type S Concept sets the stage for re-introducing Type S performance variants to the Acura line-up after a decade hiatus, and will heavily influence the character of the upcoming, second-generation TLX Type S.
The Acura design team set out to express the essence of Precision Crafted Performance through stance and proportion, crafting a silhouette that is powerful and expressive, yet clean and cohesive. Building on the foundational beauty and style of the Acura Precision Concept, the Type S Concept's powerful form is characterized by a wide track and low stance, with an expansive hood that stretches forward from the A-pillars.
"The return of Type S is instrumental in our mission to return Acura to its performance roots," said Jon Ikeda, Vice President and Acura Brand Officer. "From bringing back the NSX to winning at the highest level of North American sports car racing and ushering-in a new generation starting with the RDX, we are revitalizing Acura on the foundation of our original and authentic brand values, piece by piece."
Performance at the Core "We've been dreaming about a new performance-focused Acura concept car since the Precision Concept debuted," said Dave Marek, Acura's Executive Creative Director. "The Type S Concept speaks unambiguously to performance and to the essence of Acura design."
The Type S Concept showcases new elements of Acura design including next-generation, four-lamp Jewel Eye® LED headlights, an open-surface Diamond Pentagon grille, and "Chicane" daytime running lights and taillights, both drawing inspiration from the Acura ARX-05 Daytona Prototype race car.
Refined Style Meets Raw Emotion Building off its powerful stance, the Type S Concept's front fascia reflects both form and function. Large center and side intakes are capable of supplying required airflow to a high-performance engine and brake package, with fascia detailing evolved from the NSX and Acura Precision Concept. The headlights are underscored, literally, by translucent white "Chicane" LEDs that serve double duty as running lights and turn signals.
The front fascia transitions to a side profile that communicates both power and elegance. Sheer surfaces and continually shifting angles are balanced by sharp, intersecting lines that create the impression that every surface is changing shape as it flows front to rear. Sheer side surfaces gradually open-up to muscular rear wheel arches, emphasizing the concept's wide track.
A sharp and distinctive tail features an upswept decklid with a sharply creased centerline (drawn from the hood) and integrated forged carbon spoiler. "Chicane" LED taillights, a large rear diffuser and quad chrome exhaust outlets complete the look.
In addition to the rear decklid spoiler, forged carbon – created by bonding layers of carbon on top of one another to exceed the strength of traditional interwoven carbon – is applied to the front and rear splitters, side sills, rear decklid spoiler and multi-spoke 21-inch wheels.
A "square" 285-series summer tire setup ensures high levels of grip in the most dynamic of driving situations. All four corners feature drilled Brembo™ high-performance brakes with four-piston calipers, providing ample stopping power and an aggressive appearance.
The Concept's bespoke "Double Apex Blue Pearl" paint reflects a liquid and electric hue that pays homage to blue Type S heritage models, including the acclaimed 2007-2008 TL Type S. "Double Apex Blue Pearl" employs Nano pigments and a color-infused clear coat that impart a sense of fluidity and motion, and enhance the paint's luster and brilliance.
The Acura Type S Concept was conceived by the Acura Design Studio in California, led by executive creative director, Dave Marek, and chief designer, Ben Davidson and will be showcased throughout Monterey Car Week. After its private debut at an Acura hosted event Aug. 15, it will make its public debut at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering on Aug. 16, with a press conference scheduled for 9:30 a.m. The Type S Concept will also be on display at the historic Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Aug. 18.

From a curious set of circumstances, a demanding research project was launched with a meticulous, almost obsessive focus on details and design in order to create a highly distinctive, street-legal Pagani hypercar that would combine the unparalleled sensations of driving a roadster with the most advanced technology available today. Every effort made by the Pagani team, whose designers, engineers and master craftsmen work continuously to achieve the most extreme levels of scientific research and uniqueness, was focused on the pursuit of an ideal: to exceed the customer’s expectations and repay his absolute faith. – AERODYNAMICS –
The Roadster BC was designed to generate an aerodynamic load with a downforce target of 500 kg at 280 km/h (1,102 lbs at 174 mph) while maintaining a ground clearance that will allow passengers to enjoy driving at its finest, whether it’s on public roads or racetracks. To achieve this the team focused on finding a balance between its internal air-flows system and its external aerodynamically-sleek silhouette in all driving conditions. While the front has been developed to guarantee the heat exchange required for the Pagani V12 engine and simultaneously generate an effective downforce, the rear completes air extraction and keeps the vehicle’s pressure centre constant and the wing becomes extremely effective even at average road speeds.
Besides, the active aerodynamics system combined with its dynamic suspensions enhances the car stability by adapting its aerodynamic setup to suit specific driving requirements. The Roadster BC offers you maximum control during a thrilling experience, especially when the new Titanium six-exhaust pipe system starts to exalt the roar of the Pagani twelve-cylinder engine. For the first time in Pagani Automobili, this exhaust system features two extra direct outlets from the catalytic converters to exploit the blown diffuser principle and generate further downforce.
– CHASSIS AND MATERIALS –
The Roadster BC features new, exclusive composite technologies based on carbon fibre and carbon-titanium that offer an increase of 12% in torsional rigidity and 20% in flexional rigidity compared to Pagani Automobili’s state of the art technology till today. This increase in the mechanical properties of the materials applied, in particular in the chassis torsional and flexional rigidity, also allows its dynamic response to be augmented when driving, as well as its safety in critical conditions.

Know-how, tradition and over 125 years of technical history for Mercedes-Benz and 50 for AMG plus 20 years of close cooperation with Pagani, a universe of knowledge for giving birth to the Pagani V12. A completely new engine that boasts a level of power and elasticity that will glue drivers to their seat and leave its mark on their shoulders. 800 hp and a torque of 1,050 NM already at 2,000 rpm, with one of the best weight-power ratios in the category. The Pagani V12 features a set of innovations, including two new turbos, a revolutionary hydroformed manifold, twin throttle bodies and four water- air intercoolers; all of this supported by a sophisticated electronic system designed by Bosch for making the maximum use of its potential.
Last, but not least, this jewel complies with the latest international carbon footprint and gas emission standards, including California’s environmental regulations, without having to resort to a hybrid system.

This vast enterprise of technological research was also applied to the suspension unit that has always been a technical prodigy and a source of pride for Pagani Automobili.
Roadster BC is trustworthy and exciting as it is the result of endless work on numerous elements: the rigidity of the chassis, the vehicle’s dynamics, the elasto-kinematics of the suspension and the lowering of its centre of gravity and weight, to name just a few. Having explored, tested and perfected all these aspects, electronics were then added to further increase performance, stability and safety. These improved electronics not only reduce dive, squat and roll effects intensely but take the control and safety of the vehicle to a new level. Plus, the system offers a great chance of exploring the entire vehicle’s mechanical platform, giving its best performance in extreme situations by facilitating the driving experience.
– TRANSMISSION –
The Pagani by Xtrac transverse seven-speed sequential gearbox allows all the power and exceptional reactivity of the Pagani V12 to be transferred to the road. The flywheel-clutch unit consists of a triple-disc clutch, an electronically controlled differential and a racing-style three-way coupling system. The complete transmission system is 35% lighter than a dual-clutch transmission unit. This transversal structure not only helps save overall weight; it also allows polar inertia to drastically limit oversteering, typically dangerous in mid-engine cars.

The Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tyres, tailor-made for the Roadster BC, are the result of the close working relationship, partnership and passion that Pirelli and Pagani have shared for the last decade. Created in the Modular Integrated Robotized System, or “MIRS”, the Pirelli high-performance tyre department, the aim of the project was to create a tyre that would combine high performance with the challenging specifications that Horacio Pagani and his Atelier’s latest creation had set: to transmit, above all, a sensation of total safety and control even for the least expert driver, regardless of weather and driving dynamics. “In 10 years of working together with Pirelli, one of the goals we set ourselves was increasing what drivers felt when they held the steering wheel. They had to feel as if their hands were resting on the road. And thanks to the skill and knowhow of the Pirelli technicians this tyre is now so communicative you can actually feel when you are reaching its grip limit. Remarkable results were achieved on a number of major test tracks, where the ultimate Pirelli tyres performed outstandingly: millimetric precision in bends and an incredible grip allowing a lateral acceleration of 1.9 g during constant running, with peaks of 2.2 g, and a longitudinal deceleration of 2.2 g. The PZero Trofeo R is not only synonymous with superior performance, but it is also designed to have less rolling resistance which fosters driveability and comfort. The rims developed together with APP are made of forged Avional alloy. With a lightweight manual finish 14-spoke design, they express at a glance all Roadster BC’s character and elegance.

Ford, America’s truck leader, introduces its most advanced and luxurious truck ever – the Ford F-150 Limited.
The new Limited expands the F-150 model lineup – Ford’s toughest, smartest, safest and most capable F-150 ever – with more standard technology and driver convenience features than any other light-duty pickup. The Limited, a 2016 model, goes on sale this winter.
“The F-150 Limited sets a new bar for what discerning customers should expect in a high-end truck,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. “We’re adding segment-exclusive technology, and features that improve productivity, convenience and capability with distinctive style.”
There’s a Ford F-150 for every truck customer, beginning with work-ready versions that have a starting MSRP below the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 WT, as well as the popular mid-range F-150 XLT. But the new F-150 Limited meets the growing, untapped needs of luxury customers looking for exclusivity, convenience and fine craftsmanship that’s differentiated from other high-series trucks. F-150 Limited surpasses the well-appointed Lariat, the Western-themed King Ranch and contemporary Platinum edition models.
In 1999, the company introduced the special-edition 2000 Harley-Davidson F-150. In 2001, the first King Ranch F-150 arrived. The 2009 F-150 took truck luxury to new heights with the Platinum model, and the first-generation Limited was added with the 2013 model year.
Exterior refinements The 2016 Ford F-150 Limited stands out with exclusive 22-inch polished aluminum wheels and raised dimensional LIMITED lettering on the hood, unique grille and satin-finished chrome badge on the tailgate. The chrome front bumper has body-color end caps while the rear bumper is body color; bright belt moldings visually tie the two together. The exterior is further accented by satin-chrome door handles and chrome exhaust tip.
Available colors include Shadow Black, Magnetic, Blue Jeans and White Platinum Metallic tri-coat.
Top-tier equipment The standard equipment list is a showcase of the best F-150 Limited has to offer to make getting work done easier and with greater comfort.
BLIS® with cross-traffic alert, chrome front tow hooks (4x4 only), panoramic vista roof, power-deployable running boards, quad-beam LED headlamps, remote start and tailgate release, as well as an integrated trailer brake controller come standard. A technology package includes a lane-keeping system, 360-degree camera system and dynamic trailer hitch assist.
Interior equipment includes heated and cooled black and Mojave leather front seats that are unique in design and feature Limited badging, 10-way power adjustment and class-exclusive1 multicontour massaging. Heated rear seats and SYNC® 3 with AppLink™ are also included.
SYNC 3 is Ford’s newest communications and entertainment system that features enhanced voice recognition, high-speed performance, capacitive touch screen and easier-to-understand graphical interface.3
F-150 Limited also includes a Sony® 10-speaker sound system with HD Radio™, subwoofer and single CD player paired with a five-year subscription to SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link to complete the package.
The interior is further differentiated from other F-150 models with a laser-engraved VIN plate on the center console lid including production number. Unique front and rear floor mats, unique instrument cluster face, genuine fiddleback eucalyptus, and aluminum interior accents and unique scuff plates with ice blue backlighting further distinguish the Limited model.
All-new, segment1-first Pro Trailer Backup Assist is available that makes it easier for drivers of all skill levels to back a trailer up to launch a boat or park in a driveway. The technology allows customers to steer a trailer instinctively by turning a knob left or right to indicate direction; the truck controls its steering and limits vehicle speed.
Advanced power and fuel efficiency The 2016 F-150 Limited is powered by the 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6, which allows for towing of up to 10,100 pounds when properly equipped. This advanced powertrain produces 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque – the latter unsurpassed by any truck with a comparable engine in its class1 – and has an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 17 mpg city, 24 mpg highway and 20 mpg combined.2
The engine is paired with an electronic six-speed automatic transmission with tow/haul and sport modes that features SelectShift® with progressive range select. Four-wheel-drive models are equipped with two-speed automatic four-wheel drive that automatically shifts between two-wheel and four-wheel drive depending on driving surface traction conditions.
