Already recognised as the most dynamically capable, performance-focused Jaguar, the F-TYPE sports car continues to evolve, with a fresh look, state-of-the-art infotainment system and world-first ReRun app that combines vehicle data with GoPro video to enhance the driving experience.
Since launch in 2012, Jaguar’s all-aluminium two-seater has firmly established itself as the best-selling sports car in its segment in its home market and has won nearly 160 awards worldwide. The unrivalled balance of seductive design, stunning performance and outstanding dynamics has always made the F-TYPE unique, in a range that has evolved to include Coupé bodystyles, manual transmissions and intelligent all-wheel drive.
The new F-TYPE range offers even more driver-focused technology and a broader model range than ever, comprising 22 derivatives from the purist appeal of the rear-wheel drive, 340PS F-TYPE to the 200mph, all-wheel drive F-TYPE SVR – Jaguar’s all-weather supercar.
Every F-TYPE now features the Touch Pro infotainment system. Its super-fast responses, intuitive tablet-style operation, intelligent navigation functions such as Share ETA and online services such as real-time traffic and live weather reports make every journey more rewarding and put a world of information at the driver’s fingertips.
True enthusiasts will be able to capture and share their driving experiences using the new ReRun app developed in collaboration with GoPro. In a world-first, ReRun combines real-time video from the driver’s GoPro with key vehicle performance data including speed, throttle position, gear selection, braking force and g force. The high quality video – including unique ‘highlights’ sections – can be downloaded to the driver’s smartphone and shared on social media.
The F-TYPE’s award-wining design is stronger and more focused, with clearer visual range differentiation thanks to model-specific front bumpers. Full LED headlights boost visual appeal still further and help improve driver safety and comfort.
“Great sports car design is about proportion and purity. The most challenging element of the process for designers is to focus on and maintain an exciting silhouette that promises performance. For the 2018 model year F-TYPE, we looked at how we could fine-tune key details to deliver even more clarity of purpose in the overall design – for the driver, the passenger and onlookers.”
Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar
The addition of lightweight slimline seats and new chrome and aluminium trim finishers heighten the driver-focused feel of the interior and perfectly complement the enhanced interior colour schemes including the Siena Tan leather option now available across the range.
To mark the introduction of the new F-TYPE range Jaguar has developed the exclusive 400 SPORT launch edition, which will go on sale worldwide but for one model year only. Power from the new 400PS version of the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine is complemented by an uprated chassis comprising the Super Performance braking system, Configurable Dynamics and 20-inch wheels with a unique Dark Satin Grey finish.
Distinctive Yellow and Dark Satin Grey 400 SPORT badges on the rear of the car and on the front splitter hint at the extra power concealed beneath the clamshell bonnet and perfectly complement the choice of Indus Silver, Santorini Black and Yulong White metallic paint. Interior design elements include 400 SPORT branding in the centre console, steering wheel, treadplates and embroidered headrests. Yellow contrast stitching features throughout the cabin.
18 Model Year introduces the R-Dynamic derivative proposition to the F-TYPE line-up. It is available as a 340PS V6 F-TYPE R-Dynamic and offers 19-inch wheels, LED Headlights, Exterior body styling with gloss black accents, interior console change and switchable active exhaust for £3,700 over the 340PS V6 F-TYPE. The 380PS V6 F-TYPE R-Dynamic replaces the 380PS V6S of today, and also incorporates these striking visual changes as well as coming with 20-inch alloy wheels.
Joining the F-TYPE’s comprehensive suite of driver-focused assistance systems is a semi-automated park-assist function designed to make parallel parking in even the tightest of spaces quicker and easier. When passing a potential space, the car’s ultrasonic parking sensors measure its length. If suitable, the system takes care of the steering: all the driver has to do is press a button, engage reverse and control the throttle and brakes. The system will also guide the vehicle out of the space when it’s time to leave.
The new F-TYPE range in the UK will consist of:
F-TYPE Coupé and Convertible: 340PS 3.0-litre V6; Quickshift RWD/ manual RWD Priced from £51,450 on the road

DESIGN
For the 2018 model year the front end look becomes clearer and more powerful, with LED headlights adding a technological edge. Inside, lightweight slimline seats deliver more style, more room and greater comfort. A harmonious selection of new interior finishes and materials give the F-TYPE a more exotic feel
A key aim of the design process was to establish a stronger, purer statement for the F-TYPE’s front-end form, while also providing clearer visual differentiation between the different models. The addition of full LED headlights and slimline seats make the car’s aesthetics even more striking and significantly enhance the driving experience.
The F-TYPE’s grille shape and graphic are unchanged, remaining – as ever – key elements in the sports car’s design DNA. However, for the 2018 model year, designers paid particular attention to the bumpers, introducing bolder surfaces and simpler forms with discreet signature features subtly enhancing the front end form, providing greater differentiation across the model range, from the F-TYPE up to the F-TYPE SVR.
In place of its predecessor’s double ‘shark gill’ apertures, the new F-TYPE features large, powerful single apertures with a lozenge mesh design. Building on this design theme, the F-TYPE R-Dynamic model gains Gloss Black bezels.
Reflecting the step up in power and performance, the 550PS V8 R features larger, wider apertures with a distinctive horizontal blade to further accentuate the car’s visual width. The 575PS V8 SVR’s 200mph potential is clearly expressed through unique apertures designed to offer the maximum possible airflow and aerodynamic efficiency.
The new full LED headlights help to signal the greater clarity in the F-TYPE’s design language. Jaguar’s distinctive J-Blade daytime running lights are retained, and these now double as the direction indicators, with the lamp’s ‘eyelid’ indexing with the bonnet’s cutline to further accentuate the lights’ multi-layered graphics.
The improved aesthetics are more than matched by performance and functionality: light from the LEDs has a colour temperature of 5,500-6,000K, making it similar to natural daylight. Putting higher-quality light on the road improves visibility, helps to alleviate fatigue on long drives and makes it easier for drivers to spot hazards earlier.
The Adaptive Front Lighting system makes the new LED headlights even more effective. Networking them to the vehicle’s suite of sensors enables them to switch intelligently between four main driving modes: City, Country, Motorway and Bad Weather.
In normal conditions at up to 30mph (48km/h), City Mode provides a wide-angle low beam setting that helps the driver see pedestrians and side roads more easily in built-up areas. To aid progress in heavy rain, Bad Weather mode activates at speeds of up to 40mph (64km/h).
When the F-TYPE accelerates above 30mph (48km/h), Country Mode activates, providing a narrower, longer beam to improve distance visibility. At speeds beyond 56mph (90km/h), Motorway Mode sets its focus further down the road to enable the driver to see even further.
The LED rear light clusters have been subtly updated too. The characteristic light graphic of a horizontal line intersecting a roundel – a feature inherited from the iconic Jaguar E-type – is now accentuated by darker lenses to give the car an even more purposeful appearance.
Interior design: more comfort, more luxury, more purity
The 2018 model year F-TYPE’s interior, like the exterior, evolves into a purer, more concentrated expression of the car’s original elegance and sportiness. Jaguar’s interior designers focused on refining a handful of key elements to create a greater sense of harmony in the finishes, enhance the sense of balance between luxury and performance and to introduce new material options that give the car an even more exotic feel.
One of the most significant upgrades are the new lightweight slimline seats which combine an ergonomically-optimised form with outstanding comfort. The seat’s flowing contours and sculpted surfaces also contribute to the F-TYPE interior’s heightened sense of anticipation and poise.
The seat frames are pressure diecast magnesium alloy – a material with the high strength-to-weight ratio and excellent formability required for the ergonomic form of Jaguar’s innovative seat design. The weight saving compared to their predecessors is more than 8kg.
The more supportive backrest bolsters and the seat’s upper curvature provide the driver with exceptional lateral support, heightening the sense of connection between the driver and the car for an even more rewarding driving experience. The design also allows the seatback to move rearwards by up to 50mm more than before, which in turn enables a lower seating position and increased legroom.
As well as optional heating, comfort can be further enhanced by a system of cooling elements and fans that deliver conditioned air evenly to the seat surfaces.
The slimline seats come in two forms: Sport and Performance. The F-TYPE and F-TYPE R-Dynamic model lines come as standard with the pure lines of the Sport version. The Performance version, which has more detailing and more pronounced wings at shoulder height, is standard equipment on the 400 SPORT, R and SVR – each with unique branding in the headrests.
Previously exclusive to the F-TYPE SVR, the Siena Tan leather interior is now offered throughout the range. Paired with the Performance seats, Siena Tan creates a more sportive environment which reflects the sports car’s dynamic personality and perfectly offsets exterior paint colours such as Carpathian Grey.
Jaguar’s design team has carefully refined the interior to produce a more concentrated expression of the F-TYPE’s original style. All models now feature a Satin Chrome finish on the engine-start button and gearshift paddles. A Noble Chrome finish is applied – as a jewel-like accent – to the door switch packs, air vent bezels and steering wheel, bringing stronger visual harmony to the interior design.
The centre console gains three new finishers to further differentiate the models in the range: the F-TYPE now sports a simple, knurled aluminium finish, in R-Dynamic models the new Delta aluminium finisher adds a sportive feel, while R models are differentiated by a Linear Vee aluminium finish with the iconic “R” etched prominently into the surface. A carbon fibre console finisher is now available as an option across the range.
Unrivalled driver appeal: F-TYPE 400 SPORT Launch Edition
To mark the introduction of the new F-TYPE range Jaguar has developed the exclusive 400 SPORT launch edition. Offered worldwide but for one model year only, the 400 SPORT features an uprated version of the supercharged 3.0-litre V6 with maximum power increased from 380PS to 400PS.
Customers will be able to choose between rear- and all-wheel drive to suit their preferred driving style, and all models benefit from the eight-speed Quickshift transmission and mechanical limited-slip differential.
Distinctive Yellow and Dark Satin Grey 400 SPORT badges on the front and rear hint at the 400PS beneath the clamshell bonnet and perfectly complement the choice of Indus Silver, Santorini Black or Yulong White paint. The car’s perfect proportions are enhanced with the Sport Design Pack comprising a more prominent front splitter, extended side sills and rear diffuser finished in sleek Dark Satin Grey.
The extra power is complemented by an uprated chassis comprising Super Performance braking system featuring 380mm front and 376mm rear discs and black calipers with 400 SPORT logo, 20-inch wheels with unique Dark Grey Satin finish and the Configurable Dynamics system which allows drivers to select individual settings for the throttle, transmission, steering and dampers.
The cabin benefits from the same attention to detail. Yellow contrast stitching is used throughout the premium leather interior, and the 400 SPORT logo is embroidered into the headrests of the slimline Performance seats with 12-way adjustment. Additional 400 SPORT branding is applied to the flat-bottomed steering wheel, black brushed aluminium centre console finisher and the sill treadplates. Anodised aluminium gearshift paddles are another highlight of the driver-focused cockpit.
inCONTROL INfotainment and connectivity
The state-of-the-art Touch Pro system comes to the F-TYPE for the first time, bringing unprecedented levels of in-car technology, from navigation that can tell your friends when you’ll arrive to a Spotify app that can recommend playlists, to the ReRun app developed in collaboration with GoPro
World-first app: ReRun
True enthusiasts will be able to capture and share their driving experiences using the new ReRun app developed in collaboration with GoPro. In a world-first, ReRun enables real-time video from the GoPro camera to be overlaid with key performance data from the new F-TYPE, including speed, throttle position, gear selection, braking force, g-force and steering wheel angle. The data is displayed using animated gauges.
With the smartphone connected wirelessly to the GoPro and to the new F-TYPE’s infotainment system via USB, drivers are ready to start recording. Performance data is taken directly from the vehicle’s electronic control networks to the ReRun app, allowing it to be overlaid in real-time with the footage from the GoPro. A unique feature analyses the data to capture highlights such as peak cornering and braking forces.
“The ReRun app combines several unique features from our Developer Toolkits to help F-TYPE drivers to create premium quality, easy-to-share videos of their driving experiences. Thanks to the close collaboration between Jaguar Land Rover’s InControl Apps team and our Developer Program team, ReRun offers outstanding functionality and is intuitive to use. We’re looking forward to the launch and seeing the first customer videos online.”
Adam Silver, Senior Director of Accessories and Developer Solutions, GoPro
The ReRun app allows drivers to download either the entire video with highlights included, or just the highlights – and there’s also an editing function. The high-quality videos are easy to share via social media platforms, making it possible for the driver to post their driving experiences across the internet.
ReRun is compatible with all new F-TYPE models equipped with InControl Apps, and with iOS devices and GoPro’s HERO5 Black, HERO5 Session, HERO4 Black and HERO4 Silver cameras. ReRun is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish language formats.
World-class infotainment technology: Touch Pro
Touch Pro is the most advanced infotainment system ever offered by Jaguar and is now standard equipment across the entire F-TYPE range. Designed and developed around state-of-the-art technologies including a powerful quad-core processor, high-speed 60GB Solid-State Drive (SSD) and an ultra-fast Ethernet network, Touch Pro delivers world-class performance and functionality and an outstanding user experience.
The system’s eight-inch capacitive touchscreen features superb quality graphics and the homescreen can be customised and widgets added to provide shortcuts to specific features and functions. It’s even possible to add additional customised home screens if desired.
Data stored on the high-speed SSD can be accessed far more quickly than with conventional hard drive technology, making the graphics incredibly responsive. Zooming in and out of maps couldn’t be simpler thanks to ‘pinch’ and ‘pan’ gestures – just like on a smartphone or tablet.
A 4G data connection enables access to a suite of smart, location-based features. For example, enter a destination and Fuel Finder will check if there’s enough fuel in the tank to get you there. If not, this will be flagged and filling stations on the route that are within range are displayed on the map: tapping on one of them is all it takes to add it as a waypoint. Fuel prices can also be shown.
Commute Mode learns your daily drive so it can offer alternative routes to avoid congestion using historical and real-time traffic information. But if you do get caught in a jam, Share ETA can send your destination, current location and estimated time of arrival (ETA) to selected contacts via email or text message. If your ETA slips, the system can automatically follow-up with an update.
Touch Pro’s smart navigation features can help you even as your journey is coming to an end: Arrival Mode adds a 360° interactive view of your destination alongside the map display when you’re some 200 metres distant – it can even show you where the nearest available parking spaces are and then direct you to them.
A companion app for iOS and Android smartphones enables true door-to-door route planning and guidance and can even help you to complete the final stage of your journey on foot. The app also enables synching of routes and destinations between devices and the new F-TYPE’s Touch Pro system so that routes can be set in advance and uploaded automatically once in the car.
Excellence as standard: Meridian Audio
InControl Touch Pro provides outstanding audio performance too, and offers a choice of two systems developed specifically for the new F-TYPE with experts from world-renowned British firm Meridian. The standard-fit system has 10 speakers, while the optional Surround Sound system features 12 speakers and delivers exceptionally clear, crisp sound optimised for both driver and passenger.
The experience is enriched with Gracenote album art stored on the SSD drive – a massive 10GB is dedicated to user media storage. Touch Pro also has smart functions such as ‘Play more like this’ which automatically compiles playlists, or Music Queue, which makes it easy to search for and add songs, albums or artists to a music queue while the current track is still playing.
Jaguar Land Rover is on a mission to transform the way customers listen to music in cars, which is why a unique app was developed in collaboration with Spotify for streaming music. Accessed using InControl Apps, the app mirrors the Spotify interface that users will recognise from their smartphones – intuitive swipe and touch gestures are used to navigate content, helping to minimise distraction.
Tapping into Spotify’s ‘deep learning’ which recognises listening habits, users can access ‘Just for You’ playlists containing recommended tracks, saving time when scrolling through music on the move. Drivers in low-signal areas don’t need to worry, as Spotify’s ‘Offline Mode’ will display downloaded content even if there’s a poor internet connection.

Jaguar’s engineering and design teams have torn up the rule book to create a bespoke electric architecture, matched with dramatic design. The result is a no-compromise smart, five seat sports car and a performance SUV in one.
Ian Callum, Director of Design, said: “The I-PACE Concept represents the next generation of electric vehicle design. It’s a dramatic, future-facing cab-forward design with a beautiful interior – the product of authentic Jaguar DNA, electric technology and contemporary craftsmanship.
“Our virtual reality reveal today has pushed technology boundaries as well, and captures the hi-tech essence of the concept car. We only have one concept car and it is in LA for the reveal. For the first time, VR has allowed us share it across the globe in the most immersive way possible.”
This unique and world-first ‘social VR’ reveal is believed to be the largest live and connected VR event of its type to date. Throughout the day more than 300 guests were transported into a specially created life-like virtual space, into which, two of the car’s creators, Ian Callum and Ian Hoban were projected.
From VR hubs in Los Angeles and London, groups of 66 guests including A-list stars Michelle Rodriguez, Miranda Kerr and James Corden, used HTC Vive Business Edition headsets, powered by Dell Precision workstations, to put themselves inside the concept car and interact live with other participants. Guests ‘sat’ on the concept’s virtual seats, had a 3600 view of Venice Beach as the concept was built piece by piece around them, and saw the I-PACE Concept race towards them across a virtual desert.
Dr Wolfgang Ziebart, Jaguar Land Rover, said: "This is an uncompromised electric vehicle designed from a clean sheet of paper: we’ve developed a new architecture and selected only the best technology available. The I-PACE Concept fully exploits the potential EVs can offer in space utilisation, driving pleasure and performance."
The state-of-the-art electric motors and 90kWh lithium-ion battery pack were designed in-house by Jaguar Land Rover to give the best possible performance and range for most daily journeys. Where ever you are in the world you can simply plug your car into a wall socket overnight, and have more than enough range to complete the average daily commute of around 50 km.
For rapid charging, using a typical public 50 KW DC charging network, a full charge will take just over 2 hours. Enough to deliver more than 220 miles range (measured on the US EPA test cycle) or more than 500 km range (measured on the European NEDC test cycle).
The I-PACE Concept transforms the electric driving experience and offers the driver-focused performance and response Jaguar is renowned for. To help deliver this, the I-PACE has electric motors on the front and rear axles. Their combined output is 400PS and 700Nm of torque – the same torque rating as the F-TYPE SVR.
Ian Hoban, Vehicle Line Director, described the set up to VR guests who were able to use virtual reality to get under the skin of this ground-breaking technology. He said: "Electric motors provide immediate response with no lag, no gearshifts and no interruptions. Their superior torque delivery compared to internal combustion engines transforms the driving experience. With 700Nm and the traction benefits of all-wheel drive, the I-PACE Concept accelerates from 0-60mph in around four seconds."
The virtual reality experience also allowed participants to sit in the front and rear of the Jaguar I-PACE Concept and explore the beautiful interior, discovering hidden details and features.
Ian Callum said: “The interior of the I-PACE Concept is finished with beautiful, premium materials and an unwavering attention to detail. Throughout the interior you will discover a host of beautiful details to surprise and delight. From the expansive panoramic glass roof to the sporting, beautifully finished seats, every feature bears the hallmark of British craftsmanship.
“And there is digital craftsmanship too, with two touch screens serving up information when and where you need it, limiting distraction and improving the driving experience”
Renowned VR Director, Alexander Horton, led the creative direction. Participants experienced the car being built around them, speeding towards them and appearing to fall to Earth from another planet – clearly signalling the future-forward nature of the revolutionary Jaguar.
The new and exciting VR platform pushed the boundaries further than ever before, with the inclusion of social interaction and a live presenter broadcast into a single VR world.
Groups in both LA and London were able to communicate and interact with one another, all whilst watching Ian Callum and Ian Hoban explain through high-end real-time 3D graphics both the design process and technology behind this forward-thinking concept car.
The VR content from the reveal will now be available on Viveport through a dedicated Jaguar app allowing consumers to experience the I-PACE Concept at home.
Jaguar joined forces with VR leaders HTC, Computer experts Dell and Creative agencies ReWind and Imagination to create the world’s largest, global, connected VR experience.

New York City's Park Avenue Tunnel was closed off to the public as British car manufacturer Jaguar showcased the distinctive sound of the new F-TYPE SVR ahead of the 2016 New York International Auto Show [NYIAS].
Along with its performance and handling, the F-TYPE's visceral sound is one of the most celebrated features of Jaguar's highly successful sports car. The tunnel, which passes under seven blocks of the iconic Park Avenue area in Manhattan and is 422 metres long, provided a unique environment to experience the distinctive, purposeful, and harder edged sound delivered by the F-TYPE SVR.
Key to the new car's phenomenal sound is its Titanium and Inconel exhaust system. This enhances the F-TYPE SVR's high performance character still further. As part of the New York demonstration, Jaguar used a custom technology specially adapted to respond specifically to the exhaust note of the F-TYPE SVR. As the car powered through Park Avenue tunnel, a series of specially installed lights changed colour from white to Jaguar Red in tandem with its increasing acceleration.
The F-TYPE SVR also features the latest evolution of Jaguar's 5.0-litre supercharged V8 to deliver increased engine output and the ultimate in performance and driver reward.
The F-TYPE SVR is the first Jaguar SVR and the fastest F-TYPE ever with a top speed of 200mph. It has been developed by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations to be lighter, quicker, faster and more powerful while remaining tractable and useable day-to-day.

The new Jaguar F-TYPE SVR, the fastest Jaguar ever, has been put through its first high speed test drive with Fast and Furious star Michelle Rodriguez at the wheel.
On a closed highway in the Nevada desert, home to the world's fastest road race the Silver State Classic Challenge, the actress pushed the car to its top speed with the speedometer indicating 201mph - a personal top speed for Michelle.
Michelle Rodriguez said: ""Driving this car was insane! I've now broken my personal speed record in the beautiful Jaguar F-TYPE SVR. Reaching 201mph felt amazing, the car drove really smoothly, all my corrections were minimal, I was super focused, and it really reacted in all the right ways. I don't think I'd ever go this fast without a professional driver seated next to me, but oh man, it was an incredible feeling."
"I've always wondered what it was like to travel faster than my top speed of 140mph and, outside of the Autobahn, it's impossible for me to do it safely anywhere else and safety is most important to me. It was refreshing to be able to take myself beyond my limitations, going that fast is a big responsibility but the experience in this car was more graceful than anything I've felt before."
Developed by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations to be lighter, quicker, faster and more powerful while remaining useable day-to-day, the F-TYPE SVR is Jaguar's ultimate performance vehicle.
John Edwards, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, said:
"Building upon the award-winning F-TYPE was a challenging objective. Everything in terms of handling, design, sound and performance had to be taken to a new level, and is what the new F-TYPE SVR delivers. It is a 200mph all-weather supercar, but above all one that is designed to be driven every day."
The F-TYPE SVR is the first Jaguar SVR and fastest F-TYPE ever. Acceleration from 0-60mph takes just 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 200mph for the Coupé. Priced from £110,000 for the Coupé and £115,485 for the Convertible,

The new Jaguar F-TYPE SVR is the first Jaguar SVR, developed to exploit the lightweight aluminium sports car's full potential while retaining its inherent tractability and day-to-day usability. The Jaguar F-TYPE SVR is a 200mph, all-weather supercar.
More powerful, lighter, and benefiting from an enhanced chassis and driveline and active aerodynamics, the all-wheel drive F-TYPE SVR Coupé and Convertible deliver supercar performance - in all conditions - and unrivalled driver engagement and reward.
"The purity of the F-TYPE's form is something truly special, but in designing the new F-TYPE SVR we had the opportunity to create something even more dramatic. Every additional form, line or component is there for a reason, and contributes to the car's increased performance as well as its presence.
"Cutting-edge aerodynamics have always been fundamental to Jaguar design, and everything from the enlarged air intakes to the active rear wing is essential to the new F-TYPE SVR's dramatic looks and 200mph potential."
Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar
Raising the output of Jaguar's supercharged 5.0-litre V8 to 575PS and 700Nm enables the F-TYPE SVR to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds. Maximum speed of the Coupé model is 200mph, the Convertible 195mph.
The F-TYPE R is already a benchmark in the sports car segment but this model represented the starting point for development of the F-TYPE SVR. Everything which contributes to performance and vehicle dynamics has been meticulously re-evaluated, re-engineered and optimised still further.
By exploiting the fundamental capability engineered in to the F-TYPE from day one, Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations division has developed Jaguar's fastest and most powerful series production road car.
"Our objective was to take everything that our customers love about F-TYPE - the performance, the handling, the sound, the design - and take it to a whole new level. This is what the new F-TYPE SVR delivers: it's a 200mph all-weather supercar.
"With 575PS, less weight, an uprated chassis and bespoke calibrations for the transmission and all-wheel drive system, performance is even more accessible and exploitable. This is a car that SVO has developed for true enthusiasts but it's one that can be enjoyed every day."
John Edwards, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations

POWERTRAIN, DRIVELINE AND CHASSIS
The F-TYPE SVR is Jaguar's fastest and most powerful series production road car but optimising everything from the calibration of all-wheel drive system to the valving in the dampers and the width of the tyres ensures that it remains a tractable, useable day-to-day sports car
Ultimate performance: Supercharged V8 with 575PS
The F-TYPE SVR features the latest evolution of Jaguar's 5.0-litre supercharged V8 to deliver the ultimate in performance and driver reward. Changes to the engine's calibration - adopted from the F-TYPE Project 7 - deliver power and torque ratings of 575PS and 700Nm.
Enlarged air intakes in the front bumper together with revised charge air coolers and redesigned bonnet vents deliver corresponding improvements in cooling system performance and powertrain efficiency.
The new lightweight titanium and Inconel exhaust system can withstand higher peak temperatures, reduces backpressure and saves 16kg - a weight reduction which exceeds the demanding target set during development. Compared to the F-TYPE R's stainless steel system, Inconel's increased thermal resistance meant that wall thickness could be halved to just 0.6mm.
The new system also delivers an even more distinctive, purposeful, harder-edged exhaust note, especially once the active valves in the rear silencers open - this happens at lower engine speeds to enhance the F-TYPE SVR's performance character still further. Even the valves themselves are made from titanium because this is the ultimate lightweight solution. The four round tailpipes are distinguished by discreet SVR branding.
To make the most of the increased engine output, the eight-speed Quickshift transmission gains a new calibration. Together with the extra grip delivered by the wider, 265- and 305-section front and rear tyres (10mm wider than the F-TYPE R), and optimising the torque on-demand all-wheel drive system's Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) control technology, this delivers the F-TYPE SVR's outstanding launch behaviour and immediacy of response.
The changes to IDD and refinements to the rear electronic active differential (EAD) ensure optimum torque distribution between the front and rear axles and across the rear axle. Combined with a unique calibration for the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, this enhances traction and dynamics - on all surfaces and in all weathers - while preserving the F-TYPE SVR's rear-wheel drive character and handling balance.
Selecting Dynamic mode will enable the enthusiast driver to fully explore the F-TYPE SVR's capability, especially with the DSC system set to TracDSC or switched off completely. Under these conditions, IDD will use the most extreme calibrations for the AWD system and for the EAD to fully exploit the available grip.
The gains in performance and driveability do not come at the expense of fuel consumption and CO2emissions: compared to the F-TYPE R, the figures on the European combined cycle remain unchanged at 25mpg and 269g/km respectively.
Light, stiff, precise
The enhancements made to the powertrain and driveline are matched by the modifications made to the chassis. Designed to take the SVR's dynamic capability to the next level, and deliver ultimate chassis agility, precision, control and response, the changes nevertheless preserve the F-TYPE's ride quality and inherent duality of character - day-to-day usability and comfort have not been compromised.
The F-TYPE's aluminium double wishbone front and rear suspension and state-of-the-art electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) system gave the SVO team the best possible starting point for developing the SVR's vehicle dynamics.
That the vehicle is 25kg lighter as standard than the AWD F-TYPE R - and 50kg lighter with options including the Carbon Ceramic Matrix brake system and carbon fibre roof - brings immediate benefits in terms of handling. Optimised aerodynamics produce further gains: the rear wing delivers reductions in lift whether in the raised or lowered position.
These fundamental improvements are matched by a raft of other hardware and software changes designed to extract the full potential from every part of the chassis. The rear anti-roll bar is thicker. The valves inside the continuously-variable dampers have been revised and the control software - the heart of Jaguar's Adaptive Dynamics system - has been recalibrated. The overall effect is that both low speed comfort and high speed control are improved.
The rear knuckle is completely new. Now an intricate, weight-optimised aluminium die casting, the design of the part enables a 37 per cent increase in camber stiffness and a 41 per cent increase in toe stiffness, which translates into greater control of the tyre contact patch and an even more connected steering feel.
The front anti-roll bar diameter has been reduced slightly. Together with the revised damper control software, a unique tune for the Torque Vectoring system which enables even more precise control of the braking applied to the inner wheels, the changes mitigate understeer - even at high corner entry speeds.
Fitted as standard with Jaguar's Super Performance braking system featuring large, 380mm and 376mm front and rear brake discs, the F-TYPE SVR can be specified with Jaguar's Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) braking system. Featuring even larger 398mm and 380mm discs and six- and four-piston monobloc calipers, this system delivers exceptional braking performance with outstanding fade resistance. The brake prefill system ensures consistent pedal feel, stop after stop.
The wider, specially-developed 265/35/ZR20 and 305/30/ZR20 tyres provide exceptional levels of grip with no detriment to ride quality or refinement. The range of 9J and 11J forged aluminium wheels deliver savings of up to 13.8kg per vehicle - another weight reduction which beat the development target - and the open spoke design also improves brake cooling. Exclusive to the F-TYPE SVR, the range comprises Coriolis wheels in Satin Technical Grey or Gloss Black, and - for models fitted with the CCM braking system - Maelstrom wheels with a Satin Black polished finish.
The F-TYPE's EPAS system already sets the benchmark for feel and response - especially off-centre. Further tuning of the control software delivers even better feedback and, combined with the stiffer rear knuckle assembly, the new wheels and tyres and the revised damper settings, means that the F-TYPE SVR steers with even greater immediacy and precision.
AERODYNAMICS
Reducing drag and lift contributes to the enhanced dynamics and performance and subtly enhances the F-TYPE's award-winning design
The effort made in developing the chassis was matched by the work done on the F-TYPE SVR's aerodynamics. Asked to solve the often conflicting requirements of reducing drag and reducing lift, the SVO team designed a full suite of features which work together to improve dynamics, stability, performance and efficiency.
To cut drag, the front bumper was extended outboard to mask as much of the wheels as possible. This also helps the airflow to remain attached to the sides of the car, reducing drag still further.
The front valance and front undertray also contribute to drag reduction but do much more to improve engine cooling. The louvre design of the new bonnet vents uses the flow of air over the bonnet to extract more hot air from the engine compartment.
Apertures in the wheelarch liners help the high pressure air to escape through the fender vents, helping to reduce front-end lift.
An under-floor tray beneath the rear suspension accelerates the airflow, reducing pressure and therefore reducing lift. Aerodynamics are further enhanced by the rear venturi. Integrating this feature was only possible because of the design of the lightweight titanium and Inconel exhaust system: using two individual rear silencers instead of a single transverse silencer enabled the venturi to be neatly packaged between them.
But the single most effective device developed for the F-TYPE SVR is its deployable rear wing: the highly optimised design is more effective and more aerodynamically-efficient in both raised and lowered and positions.
With the car in Normal mode, the wing deploys once vehicle speed reaches 60mph and 70mph for the Convertible and Coupé respectively. The wing will also deploy automatically whenever the driver selects Dynamic mode. In this raised position, the wing, together with the other aerodynamic enhancements, enables a reduction in the F-TYPE SVR's drag and lift coefficients of 2.5 per cent and 15 per cent respectively compared to the F-TYPE R with spoiler deployed. When the SVR's wing is in the lowered position, the corresponding improvements are 7.5 per cent and 45 per cent.
Exterior design options to complement the carbon fibre rear wing include a carbon fibre roof panel and a carbon fibre pack comprising the front chin section, bonnet louvres, fender vent ingots and door mirror caps.
INTERIOR
A bespoke interior characterised by exquisite detailing and infotainment systems which support the latest wearable technology make the F-TYPE SVR even more desirable
The F-TYPE SVR's performance does not come at the expense of comfort. The cabin gains cosseting 14-way SVR Performance seats finished in Jet black leather with a distinctive Lozenge Quilt pattern, contrast stitching and micro-piping and headrests embossed with the SVR logo. Customers also have the option of Siena Tan or Red leather.
The SVR Jet black leather and optional Jet black leather and suedecloth steering wheels feature black painted spoke outers and contrast stitching in a range of four colours. The unique anodised aluminium shift paddles are larger than those in other F-TYPE models to make changing gear even more instinctive.
The driver-focused theme of the 'one-plus-one' layout is enhanced with a suedecloth covering for the instrument cluster and centre console. Customers who select the optional Siena Tan or Red leather interiors benefit from full leather wrapping of the instrument panel.
The InControl Touch and InControl Touch Plus infotainment systems feature eight-inch capacitive touchscreens, intuitive user interfaces and crisp, clear 3D map displays and offer 380W Meridian and 770W Meridian surround sound audio systems respectively.
As well as the familiar InControl Apps smartphone connectivity, InControl Secure vehicle monitoring and InControl Protect emergency call system, the F-TYPE SVR also offers the latest InControl Remote functionality, which - for the ultimate in convenience - now supports wearable technology.
Partnering the InControl Remote app for iOS smartphones is a companion app developed for the Apple Watch. Using this device, drivers can lock and unlock the doors, check key information such as fuel level or mileage, and locate the car on a map. InControl Remote even enables the driver to start the engine and set the climate control system temperature to pre-condition the cabin before the start of a journey. Nothing could be simpler.

SUMMARY
The all-new Jaguar XF brings an unrivalled blend of design, luxury, technology and efficiency to lead the business car segment, underpinned by class-leading driving dynamics and refinement.
The dynamic, coupé-like design is formed around Jaguar's aluminium-intensive architecture and combines the outstanding proportions, elegant surfaces and perfect lines which define all Jaguar cars, with a longer wheelbase, more interior space and exceptionally low aerodynamic drag.
The cabin is a seamless blend of contemporary luxury materials and finishes, traditional Jaguar craftsmanship and state-of-the art technology, with features such as a reconfigurable 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster, laser head-up display and the InControl Touch Pro premium infotainment system - the all-new XF is the most connected Jaguar ever.
The 2007 XF was a radical step forward for Jaguar - and for the business car segment. Combining a sleek, coupé-like exterior and a luxurious interior, it set the class benchmark for aesthetics and driving dynamics.
Features such as the rotary shift controller, rotating air vents and phosphor blue ambient lighting set the cabin apart from the competition and made the XF a highly desirable, aspirational vehicle. It was like nothing Jaguar had ever made before, and like nothing the competition could offer. The XF went on to become the most-awarded Jaguar ever.
The all-new XF retains its predecessor's core attributes, but uses Jaguar's aluminium-intensive architecture to enable weight savings of up to 190kg - making the 163PS diesel model 80kg lighter than the nearest competitor - plus an increase in torsional stiffness of up to 28 per cent. The architecture also delivers dramatic improvements in packaging and the proportions so essential to Jaguar design.
The all-new XF is 4,954mm long: at 2,960 the wheelbase is 51mm longer than before, the front overhang 66mm shorter. Though 7mm shorter and 3mm lower than the original XF, rear seat space is class-leading thanks to 15mm more legroom, 24mm more kneeroom and up to 27mm more headroom than before. Aerodynamics are also superior: the drag coefficient drops from 0.29 to just 0.26.
The light, stiff body is also fundamental to the all-new XF's superb vehicle dynamics. Double wishbone front suspension and Integral Link rear suspension - combined with near-50:50 weight distribution - deliver the ideal balance between ride and handling.
"From an engineering perspective, our targets with the all-new XF were bound by one holistic goal - it had to do everything better, and it does.
"It offers even better dynamics, even greater refinement for the comfort of its occupants, it delivers an all-new infotainment system, and it utilises every last mm of packaging to maximise interior space, while exploiting all the weight-saving optimisation offered by our new aluminium-intensive architecture. As a driver you will notice these benefits from the moment you sit behind the wheel."
Ian Hoban, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar XF
Adopting Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) maintains Jaguar's leadership in steering feel but also reduces fuel consumption by up to two per cent and three per cent for diesel and petrol models respectively. EPAS also enables functions such as camber compensation and advanced driver assistance systems including lane-keep assist, driver condition monitoring and bay- and parallel park-assist.
Advanced passive damper technology delivers exceptional ride quality as standard through an extra valve which reduces damping forces at low speeds. For even better control the Adaptive Dynamics system monitors body movement 100 times a second and wheel movement 500 times a second to determine the optimum damper settings for the driving conditions.
Jaguar Configurable Dynamics technology, optional on all V6 models, provides the ultimate in control and enables the driver to individually tailor settings of the dampers, steering, engine and eight-speed automatic transmission.
All-wheel drive (AWD) was engineered into the vehicle from day one. The torque on-demand system is new, and the transfer case features a lighter, quieter, more efficient chain drive.
Capability is also enhanced by the advanced control system first used in F-TYPE AWD: Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD). This delivers rear-drive handling with the performance and traction benefits of AWD.
A first for XF AWD is the addition of the Adaptive Surface Response (AdSR) mode to Jaguar Drive Control. Leveraging Jaguar Land Rover's unrivalled expertise, AdSR identifies the type of surface, such as snow or gravel, and adapts the mapping of the engine, transmission, steering and Dynamic Stability Control to make the vehicle even more composed in low-grip conditions.
Ability is unrivalled in rear-wheel drive form too. All-Surface Progress Control, developed for low-speed driving in adverse conditions, automatically manages the brakes and the throttle to deliver the best possible traction, enabling the car to pull away smoothly and without drama: the driver only has to steer. ASPC operates between 3.6km/h and 30km/h, and the desired speed is set by the driver using the cruise control switches.
Infotainment and connectivity is the most advanced Jaguar has ever offered. The all-new InControl Touch Pro system builds on the intuitive user interface of InControl Touch, and supports all the same features - including InControl Apps, InControl Remote and Wi-Fi hotspot - but offers a 10.2-inch touchscreen and Dual View technology which simultaneously allows the driver to see information such as navigation, while the front seat passenger watches TV or a DVD.
To enrich the experience there's also natural voice control, supporting commands such as 'more like this' for track selection, and 10GB of the 60GB solid-state drive is dedicated to media storage, enabling Gracenote album art to be displayed. Audio systems include the exceptional 17-speaker, 825W Meridian digital surround sound system.
To handle the enormous amounts of data, InControl Touch Pro features a high-performance quad-core processor and runs on state-of-the-art, ultra-fast Ethernet, a network technology which offers exceptional data transfer rates of up to 1Gbit/second. Combined, they deliver incredible graphics, fast response times and help to future-proof the system for significant upgrades in functionality over time.
To minimise driver distraction the all-new XF offers a colour laser head-up display. Compared to competitor systems, this technology is smaller, lighter, and generates high contrast images which are easier to read in strong sunlight.
Stereo camera technology enables autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and lane-keep assist systems. Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist takes the stress out of motorway driving in stop-go traffic by tracking the vehicle in front, at a safe distance.
The traffic sign recognition system brings Jaguar's first application of an intelligent speed limiter. Once set, the system monitors speed limit signs, compares them with navigation data and, when a change in speed limit is posted, can regulate vehicle speed by either smoothly accelerating the car up to a higher limit or slowing it down to a lower limit.
The all-new XF is also the first Jaguar to offer adaptive full-LED headlights. Featuring two banks of LEDs and reflectors - one for dipped beam, the other for main beam - they generate light with a colour temperature closer to that of daylight than is achievable with Xenon lights, delivering better illumination. At the same time, energy consumption is reduced. So efficient are they that, unlike first-generation designs, cooling fans are not needed.
If the high-beam assist function is specified, the stereo camera will detect other vehicles in the distance, and the headlights will be dipped automatically as necessary to avoid dazzling other drivers.
