기아가 전용 전동화 SUV의 방향성을 담은 콘셉트카를 공개했다.

 

기아는 17일(현지시간) 미국 캘리포니아주 LA 컨벤션 센터(LA Convention Center)에서 개최된 ‘2021 LA 오토쇼’ 사전 언론 공개 행사 ‘오토모빌리티 LA(AutoMobility LA)’에서 첫 대형 전동화 SUV 콘셉트카 ‘더 기아 콘셉트 EV9(The Kia Concept EV9, 이하 콘셉트 EV9)’을 공개했다.

 

콘셉트 EV9은 EV6에 이어 기아의 차세대 전기차 라인업에 추가될 예정인 EV9의 콘셉트 모델로, 기아의 미래 모빌리티 비전이 담긴 SUV다.

 

EV6와 마찬가지로 기아의 전기차 전용 플랫폼 E-GMP(Electric-Global Modular Platform)를 기반으로 하며 ▲기아의 디자인 철학 오퍼짓 유나이티드(Opposites United, 상반된 개념의 창의적 융합)를 반영한 조화로운 디자인 ▲주행/정차 상황에 따라 시트 방향을 바꿀 수 있는 세 가지 실내 모드 ▲자연의 요소에서 영감을 받은 색상과 지속가능한 자원을 활용한 소재 등이 특징이다.

 

기아는 오퍼짓 유나이티드의 다섯 가지 속성 중  ‘자연과 조화되는 대담함(Bold for Nature)’에서 영감을 받아 전용 전동화 SUV의 독창적이고 대담한 형상을 구현했다.

 

기아는 콘셉트 EV9을 통해 첨단 기술의 표준화로 차량의 자율주행 기술이 더욱 고도화되는 가까운 미래에 선보일 전동화 SUV의 주요 특징을 예고했다.

 

이날 실물로 공개한 콘셉트 EV9은 전장 4,930mm, 전폭 2,055mm, 전고 1,790mm, 축거 3,100mm을 갖췄다.

 

콘셉트 EV9이 목표로 하는 주요 전동화 성능은 ▲1회 충전으로 최대 300마일(482km) 수준 주행 ▲350kW급 초급속 충전 시 배터리 용량의 10%에서 80%까지 충전 소요시간 약 20~30분이다.

 

기교 없이 상하좌우로 곧게 뻗은 외관은 이 차가 실내 공간을 최대로 활용할 수 있는 3열 SUV임을 한 눈에 알 수 있게 해준다.

 

광활한 크기의 측면 창문(DLO, Day Light Opening)과 ‘파노라믹 스카이 루프(panoramic sky roof)’는 승객이 차량에 머무는 모든 순간에 장관을 선사한다.

 

아울러 주행 또는 정차 상황에 따라 승객의 필요에 맞게 실내 구성을 바꿀 수 있어 더욱 특별한 경험을 제공한다.

 

기아디자인담당 카림 하비브(Karim Habib) 전무는 “기아는 최근 지속가능한 모빌리티 솔루션의 글로벌 리더가 되고자 하는 의지를 명확히 했다”고 밝혔다.

 

이어 “기아의 첫 대형 전동화 SUV 콘셉트카는 탄소 배출이 없는 파워트레인, 최첨단 외장 디자인, 현대적이고 혁신적인 기술을 근간으로 한 실내 공간이 결합됐다”며 “올해 초부터 이어진 기아의 놀라운 여정에서 또 하나의 중요한 지표인 콘셉트 EV9을 LA 모터쇼를 통해 전세계에 선보이게 돼 자랑스럽다”고 전했다.

 

■ ‘평온함을 위한 긴장감’이 조화를 이룬 측면부

 

콘셉트 EV9은 간결하지만 눈길을 사로잡는 측면부 디자인을 갖췄다.

 

기아의 다른 모델에서 볼 수 없었던 세련된 차체 비율은 강인하고 단단한 인상을 준다.

 

부드럽고 안락함이 느껴지는 승객실 볼륨은 휠을 둘러싸고 있는 날렵하고 각진 펜더 볼륨이 연출하는 긴장감과 조화롭게 대비를 이룬다.

 

여기에 낮게 깔린 차체가 지면으로부터 높은 곳에 위치한 펜더 볼륨을 더욱 도드라지게 하며 강인한 SUV의 이미지를 극대화한다.

 

삼각형의 D필러는 외관에 전반적으로 사용된 각진 디자인과 궤를 같이하는 핵심 요소로, 콘셉트 EV9의 고유한 측면 창문을 완성한다.

 

차체 색상과 대비를 이루는 하이 글로스 클래딩(High Gloss Cladding)은 시각적으로 지상고를 높여주는 효과와 함께 고급감을 더한다.

 

기하학적인 조형의 22인치 가공휠은 휠 주변의 공기 흐름을 제어하는 삼각형의 공력부 조형이 원형의 휠과 시각적인 대비를 이루며 오퍼짓 유나이티드를 완벽하게 표현한다.

 

■ 기아 전동화 모델의 새로운 상징 ‘디지털 타이거 페이스’가 적용된 전면부

 

기아는 내연기관 모델을 통해 정립한 디자인 헤리티지 ‘타이거 노즈’를 전동화 모델에 어울리는 ‘디지털 타이거 페이스’로 계승 발전시켰다.

 

콘셉트 EV9의 전면부는 내연기관차의 그릴을 대체하는 차체 색상의 패널과 ‘스타 맵 시그니처 라이팅(Star Map Signature Lighting)’으로 타이거 페이스를 구성, 이 차가 기아의 전동화 모델임을 명확하게 드러낸다.

 

스타 맵 시그니처 라이팅은 패널 양 끝에서 안쪽으로 점진적으로 퍼져 나가는 모양의 ‘스타 클라우드(star cloud) 패턴’을 적용해 차체가 넓어 보이는 시각적 효과를 준다.

 

미점등 시에는 차체에 일부처럼 드러나지 않다가 차량의 시동이 켜지면 점등되며, 웰컴 라이트로 기능 시 각 열의 램프가 순차적으로 점등돼 콘셉트 EV9의 하이테크한 이미지를 강조한다.

 

기아는 타이거 페이스 상단부에 주행 중 전면부에 부딪히는 공기를 후드로 보내 저항을 줄여주는 공기 흡입구(에어 벤트)를 배치했다.

 

또한 후드에는 태양광으로 차량 배터리를 충전할 수 있는 솔라 패널을 적용하는 등 ‘자연과 조화되는 대담함’을 반영한 혁신적인 요소를 선보였다.

 

이외에도 기아는 공력성능 측면에서 큰 차체와 각진 형태의 디자인을 보완할 수 있는 사양을 적용했다.

 

차량 루프에는 수납형 루프 레일을 적용했다. 터치 버튼을 눌러 쉽게 올려 사용할 수 있으며, 미사용 시에는 루프의 일부처럼 아래로 내려 공기역학적 효율을 극대화한다.

 

측면 반사경을 대체하는 카메라 모니터링 시스템(Camera Monitoring System)은 공력성능을 높여주는 동시에 운전자에게 공간 지각능력을 향상시켜준다.

 

후면부는 스타 맵 시그니처 라이팅이 적용된 테일램프가 전면부와 통일감을 부여한다.

 

숄더 라인과 창문을 따라 위로 길게 이어지는 테일램프는 차량의 넓고 안정적인 자세를 더욱 강조한다.

 

■ 승객의 새로운 영감을 담을 수 있는 실내 공간

 

기아는 콘셉트 EV9의 실내를 고객이 자연과 함께 휴식을 취하고 새로운 영감을 발견할 수 있는 탁 트인 라운지처럼 연출했다.

 

콘셉트 EV9의 실내 디자인 키워드는 ‘열린(Opened)’, ‘떠 있는(Floating)’, ‘순수한(Pure)’이다.

 

전면부는 알파벳 ‘O’ 형태의 크래시패드가 눈길을 사로잡는다.

 

공간감 있게 처리한 중심부로 가벼운 느낌을 연출하는 O자 형상은 외관의 크고 단단한 느낌을 이어받은 질감과 조화로운 대비를 이루며 오퍼짓 유나이티드를 상징한다.

 

특히 공중에 떠 있는 듯한 모습으로 승객의 시선을 크래시패드에 집중시켜 가벼움과 단단함의 대비를 더욱 부각시킨다.

 

O형 구조는 고객이 이동을 통해 새로운 영감을 발견하고 그것을 투영할 수 있는 창을 의미한다.

 

전면 디스플레이, 스티어링 휠, 센터 콘솔(1열 중앙 수납부), 도어 트림 가니쉬(내측 장식) 등 각 요소들의 기능에 최적화된 O형 구조를 반복하며 새로운 경험을 통한 승객의 영감을 자극한다.

 

기아는 콘셉트 EV9에 운전석과 동승석에 앉는 승객을 모두 배려한 27인치 울트라 와이드 디스플레이를 탑재했다.

 

울트라 와이드 디스플레이는 자율주행 기술이 고도화된 전동화 차량이 이동의 역할을 넘어 승객에게 보다 확장된 경험을 제공할 수 있는 잠재성을 상징한다.

 

팝업(Pop-Up) 스티어링 휠은 별도의 제품처럼 실내에서 구분되던 기존 차량의 스티어링 휠과 다르게 크래시패드 형상과 자연스럽게 어우러진다.

 

아울러 측면 창문과 1열과 2열 위를 가로지르는 파노라믹 스카이 루프로 개방감을 확보했다. 승객은 이를 통해 차량 내부에서 바깥 풍경과 자연의 빛을 오롯이 받아들일 수 있다.

 

■ 상황에 맞게 시트 방향을 변경할 수 있는 세 가지 실내 모드

 

콘셉트 EV9은 주행과 정차 상황에 따라 시트 방향을 변경할 수 있는 3가지 실내 모드를 갖췄다.

 

‘액티브 모드(Active Mode)’는 주행을 위한 통상적인 차량의 시트 배열로 1, 2, 3열 모든 좌석이 전방을 향한다.

 

‘포즈 모드(Pause Mode)’는 3열은 그대로 둔 채 1열을 180도 돌려 차량 전방으로 최대한 당기고 2열 시트를 접어 탁자처럼 활용한다.

 

이 모드에서 승객들은 라운지에 있는 것처럼 1열과 3열에 마주 앉아 대화하거나 창 밖의 자연을 감상할 수 있다.

 

‘엔조이 모드(enjoy mode)’는 3열을 180도 돌리고 테일게이트를 열어 승객이 3열에 앉아 차량 외부를 보며 쉴 수 있는 모드다.

 

기아는 3열 측면에 컵 홀더, 블루투스 스피커 등 다양한 물품을 붙일 수 있는 자석 레일과 전자기기에 전원을 공급할 수 있는 파워 아웃렛을 적용하는 등 승객이 다양하고 편리하게 공간을 활용할 수 있도록 구성했다.

 

■ 물(Water)에서 시작된 EV9의 색상과 소재

 

기아는 오퍼짓 유나이티드의 한 축을 담당하는 ‘자연과 조화되는 대담함’의 하위 개념으로 물, 공기, 빛, 땅 등 자연을 이루고 있는 4가지 요소를 정했다.

 

물의 요소에서 출발한 콘셉트 EV9은 ▲바다를 닮은 색상과 ▲물을 보전할 수 있는 지속가능하고 재사용가능한 자원을 실내 소재로 사용, 승객에게 자연과 연결되는 평온한 느낌을 선사한다.

 

망망대해를 본 딴 외장 색상은 실내의 잔잔하고 맑은 하늘색과 조화를 이룬다.

 

기아는 바다를 오염시키는 폐어망을 재활용해 바닥재를 만들고 플라스틱 병을 재생한 원단으로 시트와 도어 트림을 만들었다.

 

또한 크래시패드와 센터 콘솔 등에 천연 가죽 대비 생산에 필요한 물의 양이 적은 비건 가죽 을 사용했으며, 물을 원료로 해 환경에 영향이 적은 외장 염료를 사용했다.

 

기아는 앞으로 출시하는 모든 차종에서 천연 가죽 사용을 점차 줄여 나갈 계획이다.

기아차가 신형 스포티지 NQ5의 유럽형을 공개했습니다. 사진은 숏보디 전용의 GT 라인 모델입니다. 그릴 모양이 약간 괴기스럽긴한데, 위쪽에 타이거 노즈를 녹여 다잡았네요. 

 

휠베이스가 2,680mm로 국내형보다 85mm 줄어 콤팩트한 모습이며 리어 쿼터 글라스를 제거해 묵직한 느낌을 주네요. 실내는 2열 공간 빼면 거의 같아요. 특히, 앞모습은 구분이 어렵지요. 

 

전체적으로 보면 국내형과 호불호가 적당히 갈릴 거 같네요.

It combines a sleek yet muscular and modern exterior design with a cutting-edge premium interior featuring a swooping integrated curved display that houses the very latest advancements in connectivity tech.

Developed on a new architecture, the European Sportage benefits from a European-focused high-tech engineering program that has realized an optimal wheelbase and ideal dimensions and proportions for European roads. The exterior of the new Sportage establishes new design boundaries, giving it dramatic presence on European roads.

Tense and crisp lines ripple along the refined body, amplifying exquisite styling tensions. At the same time, clean but muscular surfaces join forces with intricate graphics to give the SUV a dynamic and assertive road presence.

Revealed earlier this year to great acclaim from the design community, Kia’s new design language – Opposites United – is at the core of the new Sportage, influencing every aspect of its appearance and character.

The thought-provoking and daring philosophy is formed of five pillars: Joy for Reason, Power to Progress, Technology for Life, Tension for Serenity and Bold for Nature. The last pillar – Bold for Nature – has profoundly influenced the design creation of new Sportage, embodying the natural world and creating a design identity that takes a daring, emotional, modern but organic form.

From the front, new Sportage showcases a precise and intricate design form with its detailed-orientated black grille graphic stretching across the width of the face. The technical graphic pulls together the main frontal features of the new Sportage, presenting a striking look. The grille links Kia’s modern signature Tiger Nose grille to the distinctive futuristic-styled boomerang-shaped LED DRLs (daytime running lights), which in turn create solid boundary lines for the striking Matrix LED head lamps also known as intelligent front lighting system.

Paying homage to its sports utility heritage, the side profile of the new Sportage creates a stirring road presence with taut lines cutting across clean but refined body surfaces that seamlessly blend the contrasting volumes together.

At the centre of the new Sportage’s modern cabin sits a beautifully sculpted integrated curved display with touchscreen pad and finely detailed sporty air vents. The curved display sweeps across the front of the interior, giving the cockpit dramatic width and depth.

The high-tech 12.3-inch touchscreen and advanced integrated controller act as the nerve centre for driver and passenger connectivity, functionality and usability needs. An ergonomic centre console has been optimally positioned for the driver and front passenger, providing storage, operating system configuration, cupholders and soft-touch switches, the latter sitting on a raised profile alongside the shift-by-wire transmission dial. A smartphone charging bay offers high-speed 15W wireless charging.

Throughout the cabin, the highest quality materials that are sumptuous to touch have been used, while dynamic colour options add vibrancy and energy. The driver and front passenger seats combine innovation and comfort in a sporting slim design.

The European Sportage’s intelligent interior space, which combines practicality, functionality and versatility, is underpinned by a compact wheelbase of 2,680mm, a width of 1,865mm, length of 4,515mm and height of 1,645mm. This has resulted in a package that leads the way in legroom, headroom and luggage capacity. The European Sportage offers 996mm legroom for second-row passengers while headroom at the rear is 998mm. Luggage capacity is 591 litres (VDA). To maximize convenience, the rear seats can fold down in a 40:20:40 split allowing for 1,780 litres cargo space.

Fully immersive, in-car surround sound is delivered to the occupants of the new Sportage via an industry-leading speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system.

The new European Sportage is also available in an even more sporty and dynamic design guise that further accentuates the SUV’s energetic nature. The GT-Line model uses its cool crossover SUV form to full effect, with standout body colours that are vivid and spirited. The interior plays off strong contrasts between black and white, giving the GT-Line a lively and sporty environment.

Advanced powertrains
Efficiency, power and performance at the heart of the new European Sportage
The new Sportage will be launched with a comprehensive range of powerful, responsive and efficient powertrains, including state-of-the-art hybrid electric technologies as well as the very latest-generation clean gasoline and diesel IC engines.

From the very start of development, new Sportage was intended to embrace the latest electrified powertrain technologies, making it one of the most efficient SUVs available. Developed on an advanced architecture that encompasses powertrain electrification innovations, both the hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models of the new European Sportage deliver a no-compromise eco-friendly SUV package.

The packaging for the HEV and PHEV models has been carefully arranged to avoid impact on passenger and luggage space. For the HEV derivative, the battery pack is place under the second-row seats, resulting in legroom that is the same as the IC engine Sportage models. For the PHEV Sportage, the high-voltage battery is placed centrally between the two axles under the body of the SUV, ensuring a balanced weight distribution and an interior space that is practical, comfortable and versatile.

The PHEV Sportage features Kia’s award-winning 1.6-litre T-GDI engine, a 66.9kW permanent magnet traction electric motor and a 13.8kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack. The powertrain combination delivers a total system power output of 265PS, with 180PS originating from the internal combustion engine.

The state-of-the-art battery pack in the PHEV Sportage features a high-tech battery management unit that constantly monitors the state of the battery, including factors such as current, voltage, isolation and fault diagnosis. The pack also has an advanced cell monitoring unit that measures and monitors cell voltage and temperature.

The HEV Sportage model also benefits from Kia’s acclaimed 1.6 T-GDI 180PS engine. It features a 44.2kW permanent magnet traction electric motor and a 1.49kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. Total system power of the HEV Sportage is 230PS.

The new 1.6 T-GDI engine is also available in the new Sportage line-up with a mild hybrid (MHEV) system that has been developed to reduce emissions and optimize frugality. It combines enhanced efficiency with sporty performance, generating 150PS or 180PS power output. The four-cylinder unit realizes enhanced fuel efficiency through a new and optimized combustion process, cooling technologies and key friction reduction measures, including an advanced integrated thermal management system and the use of a low-friction ball bearing.

Also included in the launch line-up of new European Sportage is a highly efficient 1.6-litre clean diesel engine that is available with 115PS or 136PS power outputs. Featuring advanced SCR active emissions control technologies, the clean diesel engine cuts pollutants such as NOx and particulate matter. The 136PS clean diesel model is available with MHEV technology, further reducing emissions and enhancing efficiency of the new European Sportage.

The 1.6 T-GDI engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (7DCT), while a 6-speed manual transmission (MT) is also available. The 1.6-litre diesel variants – with or without the additional MHEV tech – can be paired with either a six-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT) or the 7DCT.

All European Sportage models come equipped with Kia’s Idle Stop-and-Go technology that turns the engine off when the car is stationary, delivering further real-world fuel savings and emissions reduction. It is possible to operate the ISG function by using Kia’s industry-leading ADAS technology, which looks ahead to determine if and when ISG should be activated such as when the vehicle is approaching a stop sign or junction. This combination avoids unnecessary stop and start operations of the engine and keeps the driver informed at all times of the current ISG status.

European Sportage benefits from new Terrain Mode and ECS
Based on the company’s new N3 architecture, every element of the new Sportage has been designed and developed to enhance the SUV’s premium stature.

Representing a first for Sportage is the creation of an all-new Terrain Mode that debuts on the fifth-generation Sportage. Developed for Sportage owners that want to pursue outdoor adventure and leisure activities, the highly-advanced Terrain Mode automatically adjusts the Sportage’s settings so that the vehicle realizes an optimal drive dynamic for any given road condition and environment, including snow, mud and sand.

Out of Terrain Mode, the Sportage defaults to Drive Mode, with the driver selecting from Comfort, Eco or Sport sub-settings. For convenience and added safety, all Drive Modes are displayed within the high-resolution digital cluster.

The new platform has also heavily influenced new Sportage’s driving characteristics, combining a refined, stable and comfortable ride with agile and dynamic handling. An advanced steering and suspension system that has been meticulously tuned helps bring these qualities together.

A new Electronic Controlled Suspension (ECS) provides optimum comfort and superior safety levels at all times thanks to its continuous damping control in real-time. An electronically-controlled AWD system makes sure power is optimally distributed between the front and rear wheels depending on road conditions and driving situations, not only further enhancing driving performance but also boosting safety and efficiency.

Underneath the sleek exterior design of new Sportage is a reinforced and lightweight body structure that has high torsional rigidity. New Sportage has different safety restraint and structure system applications, including driver airbag, passenger airbag, side curtain airbags, front-seat centre airbag and low-side airbags.

Kia’s acclaimed in-house developed Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology – also known as DriveWise – helps the new Sportage to avoid potential hazards, fully protecting occupants and other road users on every journey. As part of its DriveWise ADAS package, the new Sportage features Kia’s industry-leading Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist System with Junction Turning functionality, which helps avoid collisions with oncoming cars when turning left at junctions.

Highway Driving Assist (HDA) maintains a set distance and speed from the vehicle ahead when driving on a highway and helps to centre the new Sportage in its lane. HDA can also adjust vehicle speed according to the speed limit.

Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC) helps drive the new Sportage at a safe speed on the highway using real-time navigation data. Further extending the scope of NSCC, for parts of the highway where there are corners and curves, the technology automatically reduces the speed of travel before encountering the corner or curve. Upon getting back to the ‘straight’ of the highway, NSCC resets the speed limit to the original level.

New European Sportage also features Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) technology that provides warning if the car is exceeding the speed limit.

When operating the turning signal to change lanes, if there is a risk of collision with a rear-side vehicle, a new Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) system will provide a warning to the driver. After the warning, if the risk of collision increases, BCA actively controls the new Sportage to help avoid a collision. BCA is also active in situations such as parallel parking manoeuvres, further helping to avoid collision with rear-side vehicles. Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM) is also included on the new Sportage and further enhances safety and driver visibility when changing lanes by displaying a real-time rear-side image of the vehicle in the instrument cluster.

Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) helps the driver to remotely park or exit a parking spot from outside the vehicle. Parking manoeuvres are further enhanced with the addition of Rear-View Monitor (RVM) and Surround View Monitor (SVM) technology, which displays real-time video footage of the vehicle and its surroundings.

Digital launch and IAA Mobility debut
Kia’s all-new European-market Sportage made its debut during a live digital launch event on Wednesday 1 September on Kia channels.

The all-new European Sportage – including the pioneering PHEV model – will make its real-world debut at the first IAA Mobility show. Taking place in Munich, visitors to IAA Mobility (7-12 September) can find Kia at Odeonsplatz.

기아 미국법인이 2022 쏘렌토 라인업과 가격을 공개했습니다. 그에 따르면 엔트리급인 LX FWD는 2만 9,490달러부터 시작합니다. 가장 고가인 X-라인 SX는 4만 3,090달러부터하고요. 플러그인 하이브리드는 아직 미정입니다.  엔트리인 LX 트림과 하이브리드 제외하고 모든 트림에 X-라인 선택 가능하게 한 점도 눈에 띄네요.

Kia’s capable and premium Sorento SUV is one of the brand’s longest standing nameplates.  For model year 2022, the newly introduced Sorento PHEV joins the gas-powered and hybrid variants to round out the model range. Other news includes the addition of all-wheel drive for the Sorento Hybrid (with 19-inch wheels for the Hybrid EX). And the X-Line package has been expanded to Sorento EX and S trims due to the popularity of this rugged iteration. Sorento SX-P models get standard memory seats with more adjustability, adding 14-way power and a newly added thigh extender. The SX-P trim also gets standard rear heated captain’s seats. Lastly, the 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation and telematics is now standard on all models from the S trim and above.

기아는 20일(화) 차별화된 차량 경험으로 준중형 SUV 시장을 주도해 나갈 신형 스포티지를 출시한다고 밝혔다.

 

신형 스포티지는 사전계약을 시작한 6일 첫날에만 1만6,078대가 계약됐으며, 19일까지(영업일 10일) 진행된 사전계약 대수는 총 2만 2,195대로 출시 전부터 고객들의 큰 관심을 받았다.

 

이번에 출시된 신형 스포티지는 진보적인 디자인과 차급을 뛰어넘는 혁신적인 실내 공간, 신규 파워트레인 적용을 통한 우수한 동력 성능과 연비 효율 등을 갖추고 동급 최고 수준의 고품격 SUV로 거듭났다.

 

기아는 이날 오전 10시 30분부터 기아 유튜브 채널 ‘캬TV’를 통해 1~5세대로 이어져온 스포티지 혁신의 발자취를 조명하고, 신형 스포티지가 새롭게 제시하는 ‘호기심 가득한 일상’을 표현한 출시 영상을 중계한다.

신형 스포티지는 역동적이고 과감한 디자인에 차급을 뛰어넘는 실내 공간을 갖췄다.

 

차량 전면은 블랙 컬러의 하이테크적 패턴을 적용한 타이거 노즈 대형 라디에이터 그릴이 시선을 사로잡으며, 측면은 웅장하고 스포티한 바디 실루엣에 입체적인 볼륨을 더해 전체적으로 균형감이 느껴진다. 

 

후면은 좌우로 연결된 수평형 가니쉬(장식)와 날렵한 리어램프를 통해 심플하고 안정적인 이미지를 연출했다.

 

실내는 파노라믹 커브드 디스플레이(12.3인치 계기반과 12.3인치 인포테인먼트 시스템 화면을 부드럽게 곡면으로 연결한 첨단 디스플레이)를 국내 준중형 SUV 최초로 적용했으며, 인포테인먼트 시스템과 공조 기능을 통합적으로 조작할 수 있는 터치 방식의 전환 조작계를 장착해 진화된 차량 경험을 제공한다.

여기에 하이브리드 모델은 이라이드(E-Ride)와 이핸들링(E-Handling) 기술을 기본 탑재해 우수한 주행 성능과 승차감을 제공한다.

기아자동차가 유럽 전략형 모델인 씨드(Ceed)의 페이스리프트 모델을 공개했습니다. 기아 유럽 판매의 28%를 점유할 정도로 중요한 모델이죠. 이번 페이스리프트는 기본형 씨드와 함께 스포티형 프로씨드, 왜건형 씨드 SW 모두 이뤄졌습니다. 

 

그릴이 바뀌면서 앞모습은 전보다 공격적으로 변했습니다. 메탈릭 포인트가 눈에 띄네요. 단, 하이브리드 버전은 그릴 상단부가 더 많이 막혀 이상하게 보입니다.

 

실내에선 10.25인치 터치스크린과 12.3인치 디지털 계기판이 보입니다.

Kia's best-selling Ceed range has received a range of bold and contemporary enhancements for 2021, including dynamic and athletic design accents. The Ceed five-door hatchback, Ceed Sportswagon estate and ProCeed shooting brake versions will each reveal an entirely redesigned front-end, sporty updates to the rear, restyled alloys and refreshed body colours and interior when the new models go on sale at the beginning of Q4.

The Ceed family offers one of the most comprehensive C-segment line-ups on the market, and its enduring presence in the Kia range highlights the model's outstanding customer appeal and reputation. Long recognised for its key role in establishing the Korean brand in Europe, the Ceed range was Kia's first car designed, engineered and built in Europe specifically to appeal to European tastes. Now contributing to 28 per cent of Kia's European market share, the Ceed range remains a strong contender and stands confidently alongside many best-selling brands that have dominated this segment for decades.

Full UK pricing and specifications for the new Ceed line-up will be revealed shortly before the new model goes on-sale in the UK later this year.

Bold and contemporary design
A rejuvenated exterior creates a sense of vitality
From the outside, the rejuvenated exterior speaks of vitality, creating a contemporary and dynamic stance. A completely redesigned front end features Kia's new logo, a simplified graphic of the company name that reflects the ethos 'movement that inspires'. Special attention has been given to make each variant (including GT Line and GT versions) more unique and distinct from each other.

The iconic tiger-nose grille, which makes the Ceed a recognisable Kia, is upgraded to a black gloss finish with satin chrome upper and lower wing-shaped garnish for a sleek and modern appearance. To the sides, two large side air intakes shoot through the front bumper creating the sportier look. The ‘wing’ inspired theme repeats in other elements of the front redesign, such as the satin chrome trim on the lower air intake grille and the sweeping side garnish which extends into the front wheel arch. On the rear, to highlight the simplicity of the new Kia badge, the surface between the LED combi lamps has been smoothed out to accommodate the sleek new brand emblem. A new glossy black diffuser is added to the sporty rear bumper, which also echoes the satin chrome finish seen at the front of the car.

New headlamp designs have been introduced on all Ceed models, with full LED headlamps on ProCeed ‘GT-Line S’ and ‘GT’ versions featuring daytime running lights for added road presence and safety. Three arrow-shaped modules surround an integrated LED fog light and high/low beam modules. These daytime running lights (DRLs) also act as the Ceed’s turn signals. GT-Line variants of the five-door hatch gain newly designed LED combination lamps comprised of 48 honeycomb-shaped modules surrounded by a red frame. The multi-functional lamps are positioned into five rows, covered with tinted glass. The LEDs on certain rows light up sequentially when the driver uses the turn signals.

The side view reveals eye-catching new alloy designs across all variants in the line-up. Six striking styles are now available, three of which have been launched for the first time with this latest update: 16-inch alloys finished in silver; glossy black 17-inch alloy rims available exclusively on the GT-Line; and super sporty 18-inch alloys with red accents for GT variants.

The ProCeed GT will turn heads thanks to bespoke design upgrades, including vibrant red accents at the front, side and rear to highlight the car's sporting prowess. The signature tiger-nose grille on this range-topping model is formed from two-shot injection moulding to create a distinctive glossy black and red finish with dark chrome upper and lower trim. To the front, the GT's bumper displays a glossy black air intake grille with a specially developed 'GT red' trim at each end of the air intake grille. The sporty rear diffuser is accented by round dual exhaust tips and the distinctive new red trim. The GT now sits proudly on 18-inch dark metal alloys in a dedicated GT design with unique red wheel caps.

To further enhance the exterior updates, two new colours are added to the line-up to replace the current Copper Stone option: Orange Fusion and Machined Bronze.

A modern premium interior
Onboard the updated Ceed, the driver is instantly welcomed by chic interior décor, sophisticated soothing colours, tactile materials, and a layout designed to put all occupants at ease. The panoramic sunroof provides a connection to nature and creates a greater sense of space for occupants to feel inspired.

Seating is available in nine upholstery finishes, four of which are new with this upgrade. Choices include the black suede leather bucket seats with contrasting edge stitching in grey on GT Line and signature red on GT models. GT Line and GT models benefit from a newly designed gear knob for a modern look. DCT versions get an added touch of luxury with a perforated leather gear knob for an improved tactile experience. All DCT versions come with a glossy black PRND display panel.

The Ceed interior now blends a modern style in look and feel with premium functionality and new technology. For ProCeed GT-Line S models, a large 12.3-inch instrument cluster screen is paired with a 10.25-inch screen to further enhance driver interaction with the vehicle. Every aspect of the interior overhaul has been designed with usability in mind, such as the electronic parking brake switch and other features based around the ‘easy to use, easy to see’ principle which underlines the cabin design.

Immersive user experience
Upgraded Ceed benefits from the latest connectivity and convenience tech

Kia has invested much time and expertise into creating an inspirational, stress-free and optimal user experience for all travelling inside the new Ceed. 

In the UK, the door locking system for the Ceed GT-Line and all ProCeed variants is controlled via a Smart Key, and the engine is started or stopped at the press of a button. ProCeed GT-Line S variants allow two driver profiles to be programmed into the power-adjustable memory driver's seat, further ensuring maximum comfort and convenience. The infotainment navigation screen is paired to a JBL Premium eight-speaker sound system with Bluetooth streaming to create seamless connectivity between people and devices. On Sportswagon and ProCeed models, available convenience features enhance interactions day-to-day. These include second-row seats which fold at the touch of a button, and a smart power tailgate which detects the presence of the smart key and opens the tailgate if the person carrying the key remains behind the vehicle.

Every aspect of passenger comfort and convenience has also been considered in the Ceed interior refresh. Depending on vehicle specification, heated and ventilated front seats, plus heated rear seats, provide soothing comfort on colder days, while dual-zone auto air conditioning keeps the cabin cool in the height of summer.

Connectivity that inspires
People view their car as an extension of their interconnected lifestyle and expect various technologies to be available at the click of a button. Connectivity in the upgraded Ceed is about more than just telematics, Kia wants the driver to feel connected to the drive, to other passengers and road users around them.

Depending on grade, the driver is immediately greeted by a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster with high-resolution graphics, a choice of calming colourways, and four themes to customise the instrument cluster, including one which changes in line with the current weather conditions and the time of day. On certain grades, sitting aside this instrument screen is a frameless 10.25-inch centrally mounted display with infotainment, navigation and telematics connectivity features.

Also included in the latest facelift across the range is software allowing users to connect remotely with their car via the Kia Connect smartphone app and use various on board features to improve interaction and understanding of the vehicle. New connectivity features for the Ceed line-up include improved functionality for Bluetooth search via voice recognition, third party calendar link with navigation, valet mode to monitor the vehicle’s location when others are driving, and last mile navigation with augmented reality.

A new ‘User Profile Transfer’ feature enables users to back up their in-vehicle Kia Connect preferences via the cloud and transfer settings from one vehicle to the next. This is designed for customers who often switch between different Kia Connect equipped cars, such as fleet drivers who use pool cars, or families with more than one Kia Connect equipped vehicle in their household.

Occupants can use Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ by connecting their smartphone to the infotainment system to project their phone's display for an improved onboard experience and shared enjoyment. To maintain connectivity on the go, rear passengers are presented with a USB charging port in the centre console.

The very latest ADAS developments
The rejuvenated Ceed range offers class-leading levels of safety, driving convenience and parking technologies thanks to its enhanced suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). They help to reduce many of the inherent hazards and stresses of driving, protecting occupants and other road users on every journey. 

Safety features have been improved, such as the previous blind-spot warning, which is replaced by an active avoidance technology. When operating the turning signal to change lanes, if there is a risk of collision with a rear side vehicle, the new Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) will provide a warning. After the warning, if the risk of collision increases, BCA actively controls the vehicle to help avoid a collision.

Driver Attention Warning (DAW+) has been updated to include leading vehicle departure alert tech, which provides a visual alert on the screen to inform the driver that the vehicle in front is driving away, such as at traffic lights or in slow-moving traffic.

Other ADAS features that continue to be available on the Ceed range include: Forward collision-avoidance assist (FCA), which detects not only cars and pedestrians but also cyclists; Lane Keep Assist; Intelligent Speed Limit Warning; Manual Speed Limit Assist and High Beam Assist. Kia’s ‘see better and be seen’ ethos has informed the intricate new design of the daytime running LED headlamps with integrated LED fog lamps. Five-door hatch versions also gain sequential turn signals in the new rear LEDs unique to certain variants.ADAS technologies that provide convenience to the driver have also been added with the latest enhancements across the Ceed range.

Parking manoeuvres are enhanced with the addition of a Rear-View Monitor (RVM) with a switch to display the rear tailgate camera. When reversing into a parking space, RVM displays an image of the space to assist with parking. This has now been developed to provide an additional view via the 1.0 megapixel camera should there be a need to attach a trailer to the Ceed. Additionally, the RVM now has a switch that can be activated while driving to allow the driver to see, via the camera, what might be approaching from behind. After parking the vehicle, the Safe Exit Warning (SEW) system can alert users if an approaching vehicle is detected by the open door.

The warning for rear cross-traffic has also been upgraded to assistive technology. Rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist (RCCA) will detect if there is a risk with an oncoming vehicle to the left or right and provide a warning. After the warning, if the risk continues, RCCA automatically assists with emergency braking to prevent an incident from occurring.

Certain UK models continue to offer Lane Follow Assist (LFA) with Smart Cruise Control (SCC). LFA and SCC are designed to make motorway driving more relaxing by controlling the speed of the vehicle relative to other vehicles in front of the car.

Advanced powertrains
New powertrains combine performance with refinement and efficiency
The new Ceed range offers buyers a fully comprehensive choice of powertrain configurations, including mild-hybrid diesel engines (MHEV), with horsepower ranging from 99bhp to 201bhp. Ceed customers are also presented with a choice of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, the 1.0- and 1.5-litre petrol and the 1.6-litre diesel powertrains all benefitting from Kia’s Smartstream technology.

Smartstream engine technology incorporates Kia’s Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) to optimise performance. CVVD also serves to improve fuel efficiency alongside a Low-Pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (LP-EGR) system, which returns some of the hot gases produced by the engine to the combustion chamber to reduce pumping losses and improve fuel economy.

Launched in the UK earlier in 2021, the new 1.5-litre T-GDi engine is produced in Kia’s Slovakia plant – also home to the production of the Ceed family. This new Smartstream engine, which replaces the previous 1.4-litre T-GDi, is paired either to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (7DCT) or a six-speed manual transmission (6MT) and delivers 158bhp while offering reduced emissions. 1.6-litre diesel variants of the Ceed, delivering 134bhp, are only available as a mild-hybrid, and can be paired with either a six-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT) or 7DCT.

The iMT 'clutch-by-wire' system contributes to the MHEV system's enhanced fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions while retaining the driver engagement of a conventional manual gearbox.

GT models are presented with an exclusive 1.6-litre T-GDi engine with a unique sound. The petrol engine is mated to the 7DCT and delivers a huge 201bhp. The experience behind the wheel can be further tailored to suit the driver’s mood and road conditions via paddle-shift levers and three drive modes: Eco, Comfort and Sport modes. These each tailor throttle response, steering weight and transmission shift times to match the desired driving experience.

The renewed Ceed family will go into production at Kia's European manufacturing plant in Žilina, Slovakia this August and will be available across Europe by Q4.

기아 스팅어는 국내에서 거의 유일한 GT라고 볼 수 있습니다. 그 만큼 존재감이 또렷함에도 불구하고 판매량이 안습이라 후속 모델을 장담하기 어렵네요. 올린 사진은 미국 수출형 페이스리프트 모습입니다. 국내에서는 스팅어 마이스터(STINGER MEISTER)로 판매되고 있지요. 작은 변화지만 전에 비해서 세련된 터치가 느껴집니다. 단, 후방 램프는 조금 어색하네요.

 

2017년 출시된 프리미엄 퍼포먼스 세단 스팅어는 독보적인 존재감을 확보하고 있는 브랜드다. 기아자동차는 자신만의 영역을 구축한 전문가의 이미지를 결합해 상품성 개선 모델의 이름을 ‘스팅어 마이스터’로 정했다.

■ 더욱 역동적이고 고급스러운 내외장 디자인

‘스팅어 마이스터’의 외장 디자인은 ▲좌우로 연결된 수평형 리어콤비램프 ▲스타일리쉬한 신규 디자인의 메쉬 타입 18, 19인치 휠이 적용돼 더욱 역동적이고 고급스럽게 진화한 것이 특징이다.

모터스포츠에서 영감을 받아 경기 종료를 알리는 ‘체커 플래그’ 문양을 입체적으로 형상화한 턴 시그널 램프와 기하학적 고성능 이미지를 강조한 신규 디자인 휠이 완성도를 높였다.

기아자동차는 기존 대비 고급감 강화에 초점을 두고 ‘스팅어 마이스터’ 내장 디자인을 꾸몄다.

‘스팅어 마이스터’의 내장은 ▲경계를 매끄럽게 처리한 심리스(Seamless) 디자인의 10.25인치 내비게이션 ▲다이아몬드 퀼팅나파 가죽시트 ▲GT전용 스웨이드 패키지 ▲블랙 하이그로시와 크롬이 베젤 부분에 적용된 클러스터로 럭셔리 이미지를 구현했다.

특히 럭셔리 가구 이미지를 연상시키는 나파가죽 시트의 다이아몬드 퀼팅 디자인은 스팅어의 프리미엄 이지를 한층 높였다. 이와 함께 GT전용 스웨이드 패키지에서는 더블 스티치와 시트벨트 등에 레드 포인트를 더해 스포티함과 고급스러움을 동시에 향상시켰다.

■ 최첨단 안전편의사양 탑재로 동급 최고 수준의 상품성 완성

기아자동차는 고객 만족을 위해 ‘스팅어 마이스터’에 다양한 첨단편의사양을 대거 탑재했다.

‘스팅어 마이스터’에 적용된 기술은 ▲후측방 모니터 ▲차로유지보조 ▲안전 하차 경고 ▲기아 페이 ▲리모트 360도 뷰(자차 주변 영상 확인 기능)▲외부공기 유입 방지제어 등이 있다.

후측방 모니터(BVM, Blind-Spot View Monitor)는 방향지시등 조작과 연동해 차로 변경 시 기존 아웃사이드 미러 대비 더 넓은 후측방 영역을 클러스터에 표시해 안전한 주행을 돕는다.

기아 페이(KIA Pay)는 제휴된 주유소나 주차장에서 비용을 지불해야 할 때 차량에서 내릴 필요 없이 내비게이션 화면을 통해 간편하게 결제할 수 있는 편리한 기능이다.

외부공기 유입방지 제어 기술은 터널 및 악취지역 진입 전 자동으로 창문을 닫고 공조시스템을 내기 모드로 전환해 주행의 편의를 높였다.

리모트 360도 뷰는 운전자가 멀리 떨어진 상황에서도 스마트폰의 UVO 애플리케이션을 통해 원격으로 차량 주변 상황 및 차량 상태를 확인할 수 있는 기능이다.
